We stayed here a couple years ago and were quite pleased. No so much this time.
When we arrived their employee was on the phone and not too concerned about a live person standing in front of her in spite of the fact that I was wearing my Tripadvisor hat. When she was done with her personal conversation she helped me. I inquired about their pet fee and she asked me what my pet weighed. Apparently the fee is based on weight. Strange, but you can have a 10lb. cat for a mere $10. Works for me.
Unfortunately, the rooms have had some rough use in the past 2 years. The furniture was extremely beat up. There was an empty cabinet where I assume the fridge and micro shuld have been.
The room was not very clean. There was an enormous cobweb by the door. Since our cat likes to explore we had to look under the beds and found some things that housekeeping obviously missed behind the nightstand and at the head of the bed. They need to give the room a good vaccuuming. Somewhere a baby is looking for its bottle, it's full and disgustingly curdled bottle.
My husband went to the office for ice. That machine was out of order. He tried to ask the girl if there was another machine. She ingored him enough that he was quite miffed (putting it nicely). Finally she said there was another machine in our building. It also was not working. He had to walk to a gas station for ice. The employee did not care, although she must have known both machines were out of order.
The towels were small, dingy and thin.
I think they may have recently converted to the card entry system. There was a flip over security lock with nothing to engage it. Why not just remove the metal flipping mechanism?
There was a large box on the interior of the door which would prevent it from ever being used again.
Overall, I regret to say that we will never stay there again. The overall impression is that this place is now cheap and dingy, certainly not worth the money we spent there. They need to invest money in it if they expect to compete in a market with so many other lodging choices. For $10 more we could have stayed in a number of other places which is exactly what we will do on our next trip through Dalton.
We did not bother with breakfast. I took a quick glance when dropping off the key card and saw a four apples, a couple types of cereal, a waffle machine, and some bagels. We opted for Mc Donalds down the road. My husband, who normally is quite laid back, couldn't wait to leave that motel.
