I stayed at the Quality Inn Columbus while representing Webster University at the Georgia Thespian Conference and was not satisfied with my stay. The hotel has a deceivingly nice lobby, but when you ride the elevator up to your floor you will find that you are in a strange exterior corridor surrounded by a concrete half wall. The doors to the rooms are a thin metal that rattle when you knock on them, and the only windows in the room are to the corridor. My room had a view of a concrete wall, and any guests walking by my door. Needless to say I kept the drapes shut. The room was spartan with uncomfortable beds, and there was either a blood or nail polish stain on my sheets. The first night was uneventful, but my second night things took a turn. When I arrived back at the hotel after a long day of auditions, my key card would not work. I went downstairs and the front desk was not all that thrilled about fixing my card. They did, and sent me back up to my room with a security guard (I wanted a security guard to keep me from the security guard) who tried the new key and it still didn't work. He shook the handle violently for a minute and then pulled out a master key to let me in. I was able to get into my room, but the key card still didn't work, so he told me that I was "Locked in for the night". I felt very uncomfortable. When I went into the bathroom a while later I found that the light was no longer working. Unwilling to deal with the staff again I let it go and just had to leave the door to the bathroom open and turn on all the other lights in the room so I could see to shower. It was a rough night and I would not stay there again under any circumstances.
