“A great bargain. A good night's sleep.”

The manager of this motel seemed genuinely happy to have us stay at his motel. The room decor is basic, but for $45 it was great! There was a fridge and microwave, a TV, of course, and free WI-FI. There were a couple of hairs on the bathroom floor, but other than that the room was clean. The bedding was very nice. The place was very quiet, even though it was near the freeway. There was free coffee, juice, bagels, and donuts available in the lobby in the morning, and the resident manager was in place to greet guests and wish them well for their journey.

“Worst rathole I've ever stayed in. This is not a Hotel!!!!!”

DO NOT LET THE PICTURE FOOL YOU, in the Econo Lodge add online!!! I traveled to Cartersville on business in Jan. of 2010. Had a reservation for that evening but after two delays and detours I arrived at the so-called Econo Lodge at around 2:45 a.m. I obviously awoke the owner/proprietor as he entered the front desk w/ his hair standing up and as if he were annoyed. After a twelve hour drive I was just happy to be there and was ready for some rest. My hire in was the next morning at 7:00 so I figured I would get a couple hours sleep and everything would be fine. I went up to my room, opened the door, and the room was about twenty degrees, the same as it was outside this freezing night. My dog was traveling w/ me and seemed to be as much, if not more, disgusted by the smell. The door looked as if it had been busted down at least 3 or 4 times, like this was the number one meth lab motel in Cartersville. NO KIDDING!! I slept in my clothes, on top the bed and would have never dared to get under those covers, dressed, let alone unclothed. The room finally warmed up about and hour and a half later enough for me to fall asleep; although, the heater was so loud, if I had not been so exhausted, it would have never happened. Got a couple hours of sleep, woke up, and what did I see? COCKROACHES CLIMBING THE WALLS!!! NO KIDDING!!! HOW COULD ANYONE SELL A ROOM LIKE THIS TO ANYONE!!!! DISGUSTING!!! DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!! MY DOG IS STILL PISSED AT ME!!!

“Great location and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2008

First the good---this place has eye appeal with its location on a gentle slope above the highway. It is convenient to several nice places to eat.You can walk down the slope to the Fruit Jar Restaurant(good country cooking) ,and the grounds are immaculate with a very inviting pool. The room, although clean, had some unattractive mismatched furniture that needs to be replaced. The air conditioning unit was at the back of the room and struggled noisily all weekend to cool the room. The temp never did get as comfortable as I like. The people who work here were not unfriendly but seemed aloof and not amiable.I also had to pay up front before we checked in. They would not just take my credit card and let me pay when we checked out.The coffee in the morning was fresh and good and was accompanied by some nondescript dry cereals and doughnuts.Really, this place could be improved greatly by a friendlier staff. It was, though, a good bargain ,and its cleanliness and location give it a good rating as far as I am concerned. It is pet friendly also.We will return.

“Peaceful haven.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2007

Pleasantly surprised for monies paid. Reception was brisk, friendly and organised. Motel exterior looked welcoming with an outdoor small, clean swimming pool. Our room was both clean and comfortable and the shower was just bliss after a long drive. No coffee maker, fridge etc in our room but didn't request same. (Some rooms equipped though). Breakfast was a minimal affair and the seating area very limited. All in all a nice area after the nightmare of Atlanta and suburbs traffic. Would stay here again.

“Very Bad Property”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2007

I stayed for a week at the Cartersville Econo Lodge in January 2007. Never again! Below is a summary of my week there.

I would have to run the hot water in the shower for over 5 MINUTES to get warm water in the morning. The sheets looked terrible (stains and holes from cigarettes, even though I was in a non-smoking room). And, twice I found live roaches on a table in the room! Yuck! Also, the staff only cleans rooms every other day. Also, there was a very slight cigarette odor in my room even though it was supposed to be "non-smoking"

Halfway through my stay, all the electrical outlets in my room shut off, and the management could not fix the problem. So, they had to move me to another room. Obviously, this property has infrastructure issues.

There was no coffee maker in the room, and the continental breakfast was one of the worst I have seen: Just cold cereal (two types only), OJ, coffee, and donuts. And, just one tiny table that would only seat two people in the lobby! You would get your breakfast, then have to wait for 15 minutes to sit at the single table, or eat standing!!!

There was a small microwave in the room, but my room had no clock radio. There was also a small refrigerator in the room, but it was initially unusable because there was 2" of frost buildup in the freezer. So, I had to defrost it myself so I could store a few things in it.

The management staff is difficult to understand (foreign), and when I booked my room, they tried to raise the rate on me when I arrived, even though I had been quoted a cheaper rate by telephone.

The wireless internet service is poor: several nights the service completely disappeared, and even when it worked, it would only stay on an hour or so before requiring you to log in again.

In summary, I cannot recall ANYTHING that I could recommend regarding this motel. I would strongly suggest looking at other motels at this location - there are several others within 1/4 mile of this property.

  • Liked — Not much
  • Disliked — Cleanliness, bad breakfast, poor internet service
