Almost hidden behind several other hotels at this exit 36 is a small, three story Ramada that has just opened. (April 2010).
I stayed 2 nights but the first night was based on a good price from one of the on line services that don't tell you the name and location until you pay. I arranged a second night at an even better rate dealing directly with the front desk, who was very helpful and accomodating
The location here is fine if you are passing through on the interstate, but it is too far from the city of Brunswick and the Golden Isles to be practicaL.
Compared to much of what is available in this area, this is a nice little hotel for singles staying a night or two. The room I had was smaller than I would like and laid out differently than most hotels. If you stood in front of the toilet, you had a great view out the window. Since there were no tranlucent drapes, for privacy you either had to close the night time drapes or have the window view exposed.
Contemporary construction seems to allow a lot more noise than it should and although the hotel was almost empty, there were child noises in the hallway that could be heard in the room. Thin walls and little to absorb sounds.
Good stuff:
Breakfast was fine and included.
Large, flat screen TV with plenty of channels
Plenty of free parking.
Good, comfortable bedding
Free WiFi that worked well
Ice machine on second floor.
Small "market" with snacks in the lobby.
Several restaurants very close by
St Simons Is is about a 15 minute drive
