“It was better than expected for our 1st Family Vacay!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

First of all, this was our first family vacation EVER! We stayed in Yulee, Florida to visit the beach at Fernandina. Once arriving Friday night, the lobby was amazing. The woodwork, the fireplace, the library of books to read...all the FREE coffee you wanted...wow. Our room was luxurious, with 2 queen beds, a flat screen tv, desk, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave...it was impressive. The hotel is set back behind a BK with no signs and that was a blessing in disguise in my POV. Just a few miles to the beach, plenty of places to eat within walking distance...our stay was grand! We enjoyed the pool most of all...had it to ourselves for hours, and the hot tub wasn't bad either. After a good nights sleep, they provided a pretty decent breakfast, all you can eat...with eggs, sausage, several cereals to chose from, juices, coffee, waffles, fruit, bagels, bisquits, toast...hey....it was good enough to fill up me, my wife and 3 kids!! I will definitely take my family back there same time next year!!! Now, only bad was...towels and wash clothes...they were limited. We did get them but had to ask. Occasionally the key card didn't work which happened on one of the outsid doors and once on our room door. (luckily my wife was there to open it). The 3rd floor was NOT ventilated throughout the hallways. It was HOT from the walk to the room from the elevator. The a/c in our room was good, but left the floor wet under it due to condensation. And last but not least, when I checked in....they wanted a $20 incident fee. They put it in a envelope and yes, I got it back when checking out, but still, they dont tell you about that when making reservations. Good thing I had cash cause there wasn't enough on my debit card with the $20 added to what I thought was all I had to pay. Even though there was some bad or flaws...nothing, and I mean nothing honestly ruined anything about our stay. We will definitely stay again..as long as they dont raise rates...lol It was worth $69-$70 a night, nothing more!

Room Tip: 3rd Floor hallways not ventilated, HOT!

“Best sleep I’ve ever had while traveling!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2011

This is a great place. It’s clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Even though you’re a stones-throw from I-95, I found the rooms to be exceptionally quiet. The staff is exemplary.

I’ve traveled extensively throughout the continental United States for business and pleasure. I have to say, this is the most comfortable and probably one of the best nights sleep that I’ve ever had on the road. While talking with one of the staff, I found out that they use, top-end, Sealy Posturepedic mattresses. She said that the owners don’t play games. They believe in giving the customer what they came for: A good nights sleep. Ya’ can’t beat that!

They also have a pretty nice breakfast spread. Something else that I was told is that they don’t use a bulk ‘food-pak’ service. They go to Sam’s club and buy everything themselves. For their biscuits and gravy, they use Pillsbury Grands Southern Biscuits. I love those things: So much so, I’ve quit making biscuits after 40+ years.

I’ve seen several older reviews that give it a less than stellar rating. Maybe that was then and this is now. It maybe that they’re under new management and have cleaned up their act. All-in-all, this is a nice place and worthy of a ‘look-see.’ God bless.

Returned to the hotel for a second stay. No problems, the room was clean and quiet. Had good breakfast in the morning.

“A nice quiet hotel”

We were traveling from JAX to Savannah. Had gotten in late and stayed at this hotel because it was convenient to I-95. We were pleased with the service, being late in the evening the young man was very cordial and helpful. The room was very nice, although a little on small size, we were only staying for one night and so it was fine. The beds were very comfortable. The Television was a flat screen, which is important to my husband. My husband and I had breakfast. The selection was your standard fare: eggs, sausage patties, bisquits, bagels, cereal, waffles and juice. It was clean and the attendant was cleaning tables and the emptying the garbage. No complaints from us. We would stay here again when we are in the area. Overall a nice stay.

“How does this place stay in business?”

Have stayed in other Country Inn and Suites--this one is not on par with them. When we entered our room, the security lock fell off the door. There were no toiletries and the tissue dispenser was empty. There was a housekeeper in the hallway and we requested those items. She replied that she didn't have any and that we should go to the front desk. Went to the front desk with the broken lock and requested the items that were missing from our room. Desk response was that they didn't have any and that someone went to get them. She stated that she would bring them up to our room. After more than three hours, nothing had arrived.
We informed the desk that we had been driving all day and at this point, don't bother bringing up the items, we were tired and just wanted to relax. After further review of the room, we also became aware that there was a coffee pot, but no coffee. What is disappointing about this is that the staff had a casual attitude. An "I apologize for the inconvenience" by the staff would have been appropriate, but never occurred. Makes a inn guest why they have to go out for simple supplies. We slept with no security lock on the door. Thank goodness it was just an overnight stay!
