“Nice Accomodations, but Several Frustrations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We just completed a week in an "A" unit in the Ibis Bldg at Vacation Villages at Weston. We greatly enjoyed the location, the unit itself, and the beautifully maintained grounds. While at the property, we drove Hwy A1A from Ft Lauderdale to Palm Beach, toured Miami, went to the Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall, Danai Beach Jai-Alai, and the Everglades National Park. We enjoyed the spacious "A" unit with a jacuzzi tub, We had read reviews here so we were aware of the $50/week wifi charge (outrageous!), but we were not aware that if you wanted to use the in-room safe, it was a $10 charge as were the tennis courts. The heated pool is beautiful, but seating is very close, crowded, and unless you are there early, difficult to get. Also, there is limited seating with shade. Probably our single largest frustration was during check-in. Employees wanted to copy driver's license without deleting the personally identifiable information although we had our RCI Exchange Confirmation. We engaged a team chief who agreed this was not an appropriate practice. Then, we were told we had the opportunity to attend an RCI Owner's Breakfast. We asked if the breakfast involved a timeshare sells pitch, and were told "no" Because we had read the previous Tripadvisor reviews where the breakfast and sales tactics were discussed, we questioned the employee further, and she finally slipped that in order to attend the breakfast, we had to tour a new lockout unit and provide feedback. When we declined, the employed was visibly upset and walked away. We waited for several minutes for her return when another employee indicated we were done. We later heard from several guests that they had attended the breakfast that there was a hard and uncomfortable sales pitch. Without the deceptive practices on the breakfast/timeshare sales pitch, and all the additional fees, we would rate this resort four stars.

Thank you for taking time out to share the details of your vacation with us. We are always happy to receive feedback because it helps us know what areas we need to improve our services and ultimately improve our guest’s experience. Identification verification is necessary but we apologize that a member of our team was misinformed about our policy and wanted to copy your driver’s license. The employee has been retrained in proper check in procedures. We are happy that you enjoyed your accommodations but are sorry for the miscommunication you experienced with our marketing representative. We do not condone overzealous tactics because we realize that it is counterproductive to our goal. Your comments will again be used as a training tool to prevent these situations. We regret that we did not meet all of your expectations and we hope you consider returning to our resort in the future so that we may have an opportunity to prove that we are the friendliest resort is Weston.

“B Unit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed in a B unit in the IBIS building. I should have done my homework before booking this stay but I didn't so I was extremely frustrated. The unit was beautifully appointed but VERY small. I knew the kitchen was "partial" but didn't know I'd be cooking on a 2-burner hot plate. There was a small microwave/convection oven and an electric skillet. It did have a refrigerator. The $50/week charge for wifi service was a BIG surprise. We stayed in another Vacation Village building last year and there was no charge for wifi so this additional expense was annoying. We were supposed to be here for 2 weeks but after 2 days cancelled our second week. The IBIS building is right on I-595 so with the heavy road traffic it was very noisy as well.

Thank you posting about your trip to Vacation Village at Weston Resort. We are sorry that we did not meet all of your expectations during your stay. The B Units are 625 sq ft and will occupy four people. Kitchens in the B units are considered partial kitchens because stoves are not included. It does however feature many of the same amenities you would find in a fully appointed kitchen. With the technology of hotspots, unlimited data plans, etc. we find many of our guests do not place in-room internet service as a priority amenity. Therefore the resort strives to be frugal with our timeshare owner’s association budget and charges a fee for the convenience of internet service in the private rooms. Complimentary service for our guests is available in the computer room off the main lobby. Many travellers choose our location because we offer easy access to Miami, the Florida Keys, and of course all of Fort Lauderdale’s fun attractions. We are sorry that you decided to check out of the resort early but hope you were able to enjoy the beauty of south Florida during your stay.

We stayed during August 2011, we had a 2 bedrooms, for 4 adults and 1 teenager...it was more than enough room for all of us...very pretty acomodations, kitchen very spacious w/enough utensils , china etc..
Beautiful area w/very well manicure ouitdoors...waterfountains..etc
A car is a "must"...the beach is about 20 min from the resort..we went twice but it was full of jellyfish...maybe it was the time of the year but we still enjoyed the sunny day.
The resort offer shuttle to Sawgrass Mall..wich is good for bargain shoppings....
We drove early morning to Disney and came back at night...went to see Cirque de soleil...worth the money and travelli ng..went to dtown disney and had dinner there..
we felt a little bit scare at the resort is wide open to whoever wants to get in...no security gate..we scare at night at the parking lot..it should be more private not allowing the free entrance to every body..
Pool very nice but very noisy from cars..resort located middle of city and a highway...
overall...good experience and we recomend this place if you are not looking for a beachfront resort.

Thank you for sharing your vacation experience with our TripAdvisor readers. We’re so happy that you were able to enjoy the many fun Florida attractions along with your resort accommodations. We understand your concern about the absence of a security gate at Vacation Village at Weston Resort, however our property features unique A & B suites that share a common locked foyer that can only be accessed by the room key. We are thankful that you had a good experience with us and we hope we can welcome you back soon.

“Exceeded All Expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Having read all the griping and complaining on here, I truly did not know what we might be getting ourselves into, but our stay in a smaller B unit was perfect. It's all about expectations. We KNEW we would need to pay for Internet; we KNEW we would not have a "full" kitchen; we KNEW we would be repeatedly invited to sales meetings which we easily avoided.

We were especially impressed with the cleanliness of our unit in Osprey, the knowledge and kindness of every staff member we encountered, and the ease with which one can travel around via complimentary shuttle.

If I had to find fault with anything, it is the inability to secure a chaise at the pool as inconsiderate guests go very early, leave their towels, etc, on the chairs, and the rest of us are standing around looking at unoccupied seating. But that isn't the fault of VV.

We would definitely return as well as heartily recommend it to others!

“Great experience at Weston !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I booked one week in Vacation Village resort at Weston and another week at Palm Beach Shores by using RCI (Summer 2011). These two properties are very well maintained and serviced. I arrived from Calgary flying to Miami using AA planes and we rented one ENTERPRISE's car. You need vehicle in Weston to enjoy all surrounding Florida attractions.

Apartments are well illuminated, decorated and supplied with everything you need to prepare your breakfast and meals if you want. Main room with great size and beautiful tub with hydro massage. sofa-bed was acceptable to accommodate two more people. Electronic equipment very modern and operational.

For tennis lovers you have a tennis club owned by the city of Weston. The resort has a fantastic pool with an attractive waterfall and permanent activities. The only point for improvement is the small gym with reduce capacity and equipment for the size of this big resort (~2,500 people).

Weston is a good destination, and this resort is really good. You can visit SAWGRASS MALL (only 10 min away) great outlet mall to enjoy and save money $$$, LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA (only 30 miles away) beaufiful beaches/harbour and restaurants, SAWGRASS RECREATION PARK (1006 N. U.S. Highway 27 Weston, Florida 33327, only 15 min from the resort) a fantastic experience riding the airboats and seeing the alligators show really good. The City of Miami is only 45 min away using the I-75 south.

Cheers.

Room Tip: Do not forget to visit the MARIACHI RESTAURANT (www.elmariachimexican.com) is really good food there...
