I do not understand why this hotel is rated so high. I would give it two stars.
First of all, the rooms and decor is the opposite of modern. Not sure what it's technically called, but I'll call it old fashioned.
Secondly, the internet was not working during my stay. Called the front desk and they were no help.
Third, they have a shuttle, which is great, but it only runs to City Place once every hour. So I asked "Does this mean I only have one opportunity every hour to be picked up once I get to City Place?" to which she replied "yes." So, you might as well drive yourself.
Fourth, let's talk about breakfast. The "hot breakfast" offerings are your choice of two things they keep on the burners which changes every day, plus oatmeal and waffles. This would be fine, except that I like oatmeal and their oatmeal was disgusting. Not sure what exactly was wrong with it, but it didn't taste right. I wouldn't even swallow it; had to spit it out.
Every other Hampton I've stayed at had "to-go" sacks with a muffin, granola bar, apple, and bottle of water, but not this one.
Bathroom--shampoo sucks. Doesn't lather well. I used half the bottle and I swear my hair is still not clean. It's some generic brand and clearly not a priority to them.
Also, the people staying here are not the classiest of people.
And lastly, this morning I woke up to the phone in the room ringing. (I did not ask for a wake-up call.) It was some sort of standard recording you would hear if someone at Hampton put you on hold. A little weird, but whatever. Then it happened again. I called and asked about this and they had no idea what's causing it.
My perception is that the employees here do not care at all. I will never stay here again. I've stayed at other hotels in WPB, and I highly recommend the Marriott downtown.
