“Okay if get remodeled room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2007

We stayed in this hotel after seeing a review in tour book listing it as inexpensive option located minutes from beach, which it is. We figured it was not a good sign when we pulled up late afternoon, there were no cars in the parking lot and the place looked a bit run down. The first room we were shown was dirty, run down and, best of all, three fourths of the electric outlets didn't work - we could only get one light near the entrance on. Management said they only had three other available rooms. The next one was pretty nice. It had been recently remodeled with the exception of the bathroom (meaning room with shower and toilet, sink located outside b-room), was spacious with table and chairs, microwave, fridge and large closet. It is a large hotel, but it appeared as if only about eight rooms or so were occupied. Since we were told that only four rooms were left, we figured most were not in a condition to be given out. They appear to be in the process of renovating, but may have run out of money. If you can get a room that has recently been renovated you'll probably be fine. We were a little unconfortable with there being so few people at this hotel during high season.

“Not good”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2007

My family and I came into staying here for the night with low expectations as it was, and still this hotel managed to disappoint us. Our coffee pot didn't work, and when we called the front desk to tell them this, they said we weren't using it right. We never did get it to work and they didn't offer us another one. The pool was in a partly shaded area and was small and not heated. The outdoor area were dirty looking, garbage was around. We stayed the one night, but relocated to the Holiday Inn about 2 miles away the next morning and were much happier. If you're just staying to sleep, this hotel would probably do, but if you are looking to lounge and enjoy your hotel room, this isn't the place.

“Very dirty, unkept”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2005

The hotel is very old, and not kept up very well.
The office staff was very nice, but I would look elsewhere if possible.
Terrible noise at the pool until 4:00 am when we were there.

“My garage is cleaner !!”

First, the building is old and run down and the pool is in shadows a large part of the day. (We stayed in a second floor room above the pool). The room was filthy! It was a non-smoking room with burn holes in the highly stained matress cover. The wall paper was painted over and was peeling. The floor tiles in the bathroom were loose and I had to evict a few 6-legged friends I found under the sink. The interior of the room was very dirty. The floor was wet and the carpet mildewed from the ancient in-the-wall dripping air conditioner which sounded like a jumbo jet taking off when it ran. Speaking of the A/C running ... it quit the first day and the room soared to over 100 degrees. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful ... but the electrical system was ancient and the A/C breaker could not be reset. We were then moved to the front side of the building opposite the previous room. The room was much cleaner and well maintained, but the view from the window was of roof mounted equipment - and it was noisy fronting the highway.

I would not recommend this hotel unless you are used to living in a tent. The nearby Hampton Inn - Venice is a few bucks more and is surgically clean with an excellent breakfast and a clean pool area.

“Hey, it's not that bad”

I stayed there in late March of 2005 although I did have misgivings because of all the negative reviews I read on this website. Conclusion: it's your basic, somewhat older DaysInn, located on a busy boulevard next to a McDonalds. There's nothing wrong with it although I would say that it probably does not deserve the 4 suns DaysInn rating.
