Hotel and rooms were dated due to lack of upkeep and maintenance by previous owner. No lounge or restaurant on site currently as they are being renovated after a fire in February, 2010. Rooms are scheduled to be updated as well. New owner took over in March, 2010. Staff is absolutely wonderful. While I would have a difficult time recommending this hotel to a friend as it stands right now, I would not hesitate to check in on the progress of renovations over the next couple of months.

Upon check-in, service was pleasant and efficient. Manager said she had just checked our room to make sure it was ready. She couldn’t have “checked” our room because if she had, she would have realized it was not acceptable to rent. The carpet was filthy, stained and smelled badly. The chair was the same, unusable. The bathroom was relatively clean except for the accumulated dirt along the floor, against the wall. The carpet under the sink bar area was saturated from a leak. We had requested a non-smoking room but was given a room that was sprayed to cover up the smoke smell. The only good thing was the location of the hotel but that in no way made up for the lack of care and maintenance. When we complained, the manager appeared to be sympathetic and concerned, but offered only apologies. How could management put a guest in such a dirty and shabby room (which was confirmed by the maintenance manager with him saying that the room should not have been rented)? Very sad indeed. I would never stay here again or in any of their sister locations – The Veranda Inn or Days/Traveler Inn in Venice, FL.

I think this hotel is a very nice place to stay at. The room was very clean and didn't have any odors. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My family had a very nice time here and we will be returning every year for our vacation.

We've been coming to Venice and staying in this hotel for ten years now. It's a tradition. The last couple of years it really went downhill due to bad management. We stayed over Memorial weekend to give it one more chance and we were so impressed! The pool and jacuzzi were immaculately clean and sparkling. The rooms were clean and smelled wonderful. The staff was friendly and professional. We will definitely be coming back on a regular basis.
