The property was very clean as expected. We did not expect the exceptional service from both Ernie in the breakfast area and Bridget as we checked in and later when we realized we had left one of our bags. Even to the Mr Ping Chinese Restaurant advice. A fine and restful stopover. Only one suggestion... a Jacuzzi would be a relaxing addition.

I travel quite abit and this property has really made my travels to south Florida thoroughly enjoyable as they treat me like family rather than just a guest of the hotel. Because of repeat stays at this facility they now refer to me as Mr Gates and this again makes my stays special. I have also brought my wife on a few stays and she repeatedly remarks how special these trips have been for us. I have traveled for many years throughout the US and other parts of the world, having stayed in everytype of facility/hotel/etc,. and the staff of this Holiday Inn Express is one of the best I have viewed in all of my travels. The Holiday Inn Express in Venice Florida is one if the cleanest hotels I have stayed in for some time. Staying in a Hotel of this stature makes travelling for me and my wife very enjoyable. Just so you are aware, my wife and I are both senior citizens and have travelled extensively and do not just make comments about a facility, unless we feel that people need to know how good a facility is or how bad a facility is. We feel the staff of the Holiday Inn Express in Venice Fl should be commended on the outstanding job they are doing.

My family and I stayed in a room with two Q size beds. Two adults and two children. We were in town for a funeral. We stayed ONLY, Thank God, one night and that was enough. The room smelled musty and quite frankly at times like someone had smoked in the room. The a/c kept shuting off and it was very hot through the night. When we first arrived into town we called ahead to see if we could check in early, the front desk person said we couldn't until 2 p.m. She said the hotel was sold out the night before and that day as well and there were no rooms ready, understandable. I called ahead to make sure a room was ready and the front desk person said yes come, your room is ready. When we arrived the front desk person gave our key to a room that was wide open and unkept. Our room was not ready. We then got the room with the faulty dusty a/c unit. There were four of us and only three towels. Never did get the extra towel. My children wanted to swim in the pool and there were no pool towels. When they finally did give us the pool towels they were the size of hand towels not joking! They reminded me more of dish towels. The next morning at breakfst there was no milk for the cereal, and in one of the case displays where there was suppose to be hot food items, nothing in them! They had beautiful pictures of hot cinnamon rolls but that's it, stayed on my diet for sure. This was our first experince at a HIE and never again. We should have went next door to BW. Please stay away from this place and spend your money somewhere, where they appreciate your business. This place could care less. Shame on HIE for this kind of service.

I travel and stay almost exclusively at HIE hotels and am almost always impressed with the peoperties. Not today.

The room was very small and cramped for a family of four and aside from king suites or two rooms with queen beds there were no other options. The room is so small that there is a large end table masquerading as a computer desk.

The hotel only has a dozen or so channels available and none of the major news channels are included. Neither are kid friendly channels unless you want your kids watching the garbage on Cartoon Network.

Management didn't seem too concerned that I was disappointed with the room and we opted to change hotels in the morning. This particular hotel requires a 24 hour advance cancellation and we would be charged for tonight if we stayed or not.

Since we're staying and there are four of us we asked for extra towels. Our room had three bath towels, two hand towels and two wash cloths. Limited compared to other HIEs. When my daughter went to the desk to ask for extra towels we were told they didn't have any available yet and when the laundry was done (this was after 4:00 pm) we could get some extra towels.

The girl at the front desk wouldn't make eye contact and didn't seem to care a bit that we were cancelling four of our five nights. We were in town for a funeral and this experience has done nothing to lessen the strain of this trip. I can only imagine what "breakfast" will be like in the morning but I am already glad that there is a Cracker Barrel next door.

Not on my list of HIE hotels to bother with again.
