We stayed at Tropic Terrace for four nights in August, and overall the experience was poor.
We did like:
-being located right on the beachfront,
-the free parking (parking is at a premium all along these beaches),
-and the lack of housekeeping which meant there was no early morning disturbance every day.
We didn't like:
-the restrictive office hours (you can't see someone in person out of hours, you have to phone),
-the general lack of cleanliness (mold in fridge seal, stains on fabrics and walls), and the shabby furnishings (bed with no headboard, second-hand type furniture) in the apartment (ours was n°11),
-the very noisy air-con,
-the heavy-duty renovation noise going on into the wee small hours from the apartment above during our final night making it impossible to get to sleep (the DIYer sounded like he was in our room when drilling, hammering, etc).
As other contributors have said, this complex is a sort of co-op. At any given time, there may be owners or short or long-term renters in the various units. We saw 2 different people manning the front desk, and there is an agent who manages the rentals. She agreed to reimburse us for the final night of the stay, due to the inconvenience caused by the noise, and this was finally done about a week after we left and after a reminder phone call by us when we got home to Europe.
We didn't find this type of accommodation met basic tourism standards, as some owners clearly do not comply with the code of conduct of the complex. Other areas, such as the policy in regard to housekeeping seem unclear – there was a list of rules in a cupboard which mentioned daily housekeeping, but we were told that it was once a week, for stays of one week or more. We booked on the basis of previous tripadvisor reviews, and it may be that some apartments are better furnished than others, but all in all, we couldn't recommend Tropic Terrace. There were all kinds of accommodation available nearby and it may be worth looking around if you really have to be in a beachfront property in the vicinity of Treasure Island.
