“One hour was way too long!!!”

My husband & I planned a last minute trip to Treasure Island. I called the hotel on the same day of arrival and they had a room available, we drove 8 hours from Atlanta to TI. We arrived late (1 am).

From the Outside:

The property is located on the corner of Gulf Blvd and 120th. Parking is limited but we found a spot. The property is very dark @ night, so it was a little difficult finding our room.

The Room:

We booked an efficiency w/ 2 queen beds for $55/night. Upon entering the room, the furnishings appeared dated & the room had an "old" smell to it. The room is very large for the price. You walk into the living area w/ couch, table, tv. The beds are against the window directly facing the door. There is a full kitchen with everything you would need to cook a meal. The bath is the average size w/sink, toilet and tub.

The Problem:

I always bring along Anti-Bacterial wipes, spray, etc to clean the knobs, remote, etc. After doing so, I discovered several ants on the nightstand between the beds. At first this did not bother me, so I wiped the area down hoping to get rid of them. But, once I pulled back the covers on the bed to check out the sheets, I was bothered! There were several ants crawling all over the bed including the headboard and pillows. I tried to shake off the ants hoping that would end the problem and even wiped down the headboard. We were tired from a long drive and we wanted our 3 yr old to get to bed. However, the ants didn't stop.

The Solution:

We decided that this place was not for us. We left immediately & found a great hotel a couple of blocks away that was very clean.

Overrall:

If you are a bargain seeker and don't mind staying in a very dated & dreary motel, this is the place for you. The previous posters who raved about this clean motel and fresh smelling rooms, didn't stay in #10.

we stayed at mardi gras 9 nites. had an efficiency with kichen and 2 double beds and fold out couch and table with 4 chairs. this was our 'diamond in the rough'. it was a short 1 minute walk to the beach. also a great ice cream shop across the street.. next to a 7-11 which came in handy considering its a litle ways to a grocery store. the pool is cleaned with a robotic cleaner and they use the new chemical in place of chlorine. it seems like salt water, but is was a fresh water pool. the bathroom is big and beautiful and remodeled recently. they had very comfy chairs to lay by the pool and a nice large gas grill free to use and a washer and dryer. this was only $60.00 per nite. we had a full size fridge and stove, microwave toaster coffemaker dishes glasses and silverware . . . . what more could you need? it was great having the owners living on the property and they also have a beautiful exotic bird that will talk to you, especially if you don't pay attentiion to him. and a black cat, looks just like mine at home, so it made me feel at home. you cant go wrong with this place and all the reviews reflect that.

  • Liked — our room was 3 feet from the pool and it was across from the beach
  • Disliked — nothing

we stayed at the Mardi-gras a few days ago for the 08 march break and loved it. we were supposed to get a regular room but we had the studio apartment instead, which worked out great for us. There was a nice warm pool and we were only a ten minute walk to historic John's Pass and a two minute walk to the beach.
The staff at the motel were helpful and the rooms were very clean and large. also the talking parrot is your host and his owner cristine is also a great host.
