Disgusting! Roaches on the kitchen counter. Extremely run down rooms. Pool has not been cleaned in God knows how long. Shady owner and staff. And to top it all off we had items missing from our room and our luggage had been rummaged through :(((

We last stayed at Trails End Jan 2011 as we do every year, but sadly NOT this coming Jan. We will be staying elsewhere. I did not give a bad review at the time because I wanted to give them the benefit of seeing if they would clean up their act and make changes but apparently from all the other reviews, they have not and it has gotten markedly worse. Now we are not picky people at all and are happy with just the basics and willing to overlook many things. Yes, the motel dates from the 50's but when we first started coming here, it was kept clean and shipshape. The location right on the beach, the views, the gorgeous grounds and pool were probably the best on Treasure Island and a great value. But last time was truly awful. The first room stunk, very dirty, threadbare curtain and towels. all the furniture pictures etc had been removed except the beds and 1 nightstand. No table to even sit and eat! Toilet was backed up. Condoms in the drawer! We asked for another room, which was a little better, but not much. It had definitely gone downhill since the previous year. Landscaping had not been kept up. The room next door appeared to be empty but an alarm clock kept going off and stayed buzzing one day all day!! It almost seemed like it was turning into a hotel for transients. Very sad.

This place has not been maintained regarding the rooms. The surrounding grounds were fine, but when we arrived the pool was green. We had to relocate - I could not subject my friends, family and young folk to the conditions. We arrived to walk into the room that 1st - smelled old & moldie, 2nd it looked as though no fresh paint had been put on the walls for decades. 3rd roaches and insects scurred when cabinets, refridgerator and over were open. The dishes stuck to the shelf. The only clean room in the facility was the bathroom. I am all for ' retro' appearances - I will appreciate older hotel accomodations. BUT the basic act of using an industrial cleaner , disinfectant is a necessaty. We even looked at a second room , initially the appearance was better then the first, but there were roaches in the closet.
I will not blame the help or staff. This goes up to the management - why don't you stay in one of your rooms - if you don't feel creepy crawly ,, you should not be in the hospitality business. I could not stay 15 min - we left.

This place is the worst hotel in treasure island, Nasty run down rooms. Treasure island is a great place to visit loaded with nice small mom and pop motels. Avoid the nasty place!
