First let me say our room was very spacious and clean, with nice decor. Plenty of towels, nice size bathroom, etc.. It had a large TV, microwave, refrigerator, two very comfortable queen beds with nice linens and comfy pillows. I have insomnia, so I really notice such things. The breakfasts were quite complete, with great choices of fancy coffee drinks out of a machine, and several Barnies coffee choices too, as well as choices of hot and cold cereal, a few yogurt choices, different breads, sausages, juices, bagels, etc. We were there to see Mount Dora so did not check out the pool etc. as we live on the coast. The room had granite countertop, plenty of closet space, more hangers than larger hotels, etc.
Now for the negative: My mom and I decided to go to Mount Dora over Labor Day Weekend, at the last moment. We could not find a hotel in Mount Dora proper that allowed pets, but was given the name of this hotel from a property in Mount Dora. My mom made the reservations. She explained to the gentleman we had two dogs. He gave us a rate of $25 for the two small dogs, and an AARP or AAA discount. This message was not relayed to the people on duty who wanted to charge us for each dog, but finally charged us only one pet fee (per night as agreed). Other people staying with dogs were enjoying the hotel as well. When we checked out they did not have record of the per night amount the manager had told us. The person on duty wanted to charge us ten dollars more per night and was not able to reach the manager who was off for the day (Labor Day). . We were later able to contact him and he did remove the extra amount from the credit cards. (We each paid for one night.) I think this hotel has a lot of potential, but poor record keeping, from what I read in other reviews. . I would recommend it, but get everything in writing ahead of time in an email, so that everyone is straight about what is being agreed to. Perhaps the manager and employees need to go through more training in communication among employees, so that they all have the same information. I don't think they are doing this on purpose, just poor communication within the hotel. The young women who sit at the desk could be a little friendlier but we did not come to the property to be pampered. One woman asked for my room number and name when I walked past the front desk with the dogs one morning. I guess she did not know if we had paid for them. A nicer way to have dealt with this is to make polite conversation and find out that way., such as, "ARe you enjoying your stay? Is your room to your satisfaction? Oh, good. What room is it/" That said, I would recommend the hotel overall. It's hard to find places that allow dogs, and this was a nice place. Just get it all in writing.
