“Very Romantic”

We recently spent the night at Spring Bayou Inn to celebrate our 23rd Anniversary. Our Host greeted us at the door, we found Champagne & Chocolate Covered Strawberries waiting for us in a most beautiful, romantic, charming room (Rose Room). Our host treated us like old friends, made us feel very much at home and served us a delightful breakfast. Would highly recommend this charming inn.

“Excellent reviews for this B&B cannot be for real.”

This B&B did not go downhill overnight. It smells bad and gave me the creeps big time. It does have some pretty woodwork but when the sun goes down, that's not nearly enough. I find it very difficult to believe that anyone thinks this place is acceptable. This is the only place we have ever seen on our vacations that was this unacceptable. The internet access was a big secret that we never could use to find another place. This is the only bad review we have written. When we saw it, we thought what did we do wrong? We believed those good reviews. We will pay much more attention to bad reviews in future.

“Avoid this one”

This B&B has great potential but it looks like the owners aren't putting anything into it. The house is run down, the sheets didn't seem completely clean, the bathrooms haven't been updated since the house was built. The furniture is well worn. The TV sets are 20-year old 12 inch portables. The whole house seemed to be in a state of slow decay. When my wife and I visited, we were the only guests, in fact the only people in the house. At night the owner was nowhere to be found even though we called two numbers and left messages for him. We had intended to stay for three night but my wife simply refused to stay for even one night and we ended up driving 20 minutes to the nearest Holiday Inn in Dunedin. The owner has the house up for sale but I wish him luck because the entire town of Tarpon Springs seemed to be dying. Take my advice, avoid Tarpon Springs hotels and stay in nearby Dunedin so that you can take a day trip to Tarpon Springs if you want to see it.

“Elegant Old Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

We really enjoyed our stay at Spring Bayou Inn. Granted when we first drove up we were in doubt because the outside does need some work. BUT, once we entered this older home a big smile appeared on our faces. The inside was elegant with beautiful hardwood floors and staircase. Decor was eclectic mix in living room and two large tables in dining room. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious, and yes served at nine unless you notified Bill otherwise. Coffee was wonderful!

Our large room was nicely decorated in old Victorian decor and the bed very comfortable. The TV was small, but we did not go on vacation to watch TV. Showers were hot and bathroom clean.
We had a key to the front door and was able to come and go as we pleased. Bill was very accommodating and kept on asking us if we needed anything.
The Inn is in the downtown area and near to the shops, and just a short drive to the docks and wonderful Greek restaurants which Bill referred us to two great ones.

We plan on returning during our next trip to Tarpon.

“I love visiting and staying at interesting places, and we enjoyed it here.”

If you are looking for a four-star, fully restored palace then this will not be your thing. However, we enjoy places with character and interesting history, and this place had plenty of both. When staying here, it is easy to imagine what it might have been like to live in Tarpon 75 or more years ago and what a grand place it must have been. The breakfast we had was wonderful and Bill was even kind enough to share the recipe with me. We really had a great weekend and will likely stay here again next year.
