After reading the website, we decided to give the place a try.
We should have known by the extremly low price ($59.00) for two people that it was not going to be luxurious. What we didn't know was that the room was going to be reminicent of a flop house. The room was FILTHY, no towels,no soap,toilet paper was on the back of the toilet because there was no holder for it. The bathroom,& claustrophobic,totally darkened shower had so much mold & mildew, that I then could understand why the price hadn't changed in 25 yrs (Obviously, nobody cleaned it in 25 yrs either!). The bed sagged in the middle,appearing that someone had just gotten up from lying down....and for just a couple of minutes, I thought we could tolerate staying there. I got over that really fast....I went to the office, got my traveler's check back, and drove as fast as we could, AWAY...PLEASE,DON'T GO TO THIS MOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We booked 2 nites online. We only stayed 1 after we went to buy sheets and pillows to put on top of the other sheets. The bathroom had mold everywhere. It was too dirty to take a shower. There were 'fluid' marks on all the furniture, top and sides. The couch was falling apart. We didn't dare walk on the floor without shoes. There were people hanging out around the back stairs. When the office opened in the morning, she refused to give us a refund for the 2nd nite. She said she didn't know there was anything wrong. The owner refused to talk to us about it and walked off. We like local flavor. This was tooo much. We come over about once a year and won't make this mistake again.

We booked a room for two nights via the internet. When we arrived we expected it to be "rustic" but once we entered our room the nightmare began. The bedspread was spotted with blood, the carpet the bed was situated on what used to be gold carpet but was soiled. The couch had seen much better days, and the bathroom looked as if it had never been cleaned.

We tried to get hold of the manager (she stayed behind locked doors) by ringing the bell and calling on the telephone. No answer. We left messages on the message machine, no answer.

Needless to say we left the key in the room, left her a message that the room was unacceptable and went elsewhere. It was that or sleep in our car.

I followed up with two emails to the owner of SunBay Motel....no reply. Also complained to the Better Business Bureau and they did not receive a reply.

I would not recommend this motel to anyone. It was a total rip-off.
