“Don't listen to the negative reviews, I just stayed there.”

My fiance Rob & I were on "vacation" and decided to take his motorcycle to Tarpon Springs, where we broke down...long story, don't ask!? Anyway, we'd planned to stay at a B&B or something along those lines when we realized we were going to have to pay R&B (?) Motorsports $300 to clean out the carbs... We stopped first at the one across the street which was Tarpon Inn and they basically had their kids running the place and for a tiny room they wanted double what this place wanted. I was expecting from the outside, that it would be unclean and not with a/c, but I was completely incorrect. The owner was a very sweet man whom allowed us to take our time the second night there to see what was going to happen with our bike. The rooms are clean (older, but this is a beach area) and were nice. Equiped with a microwave, mini fridge and two beds, shower and very, very comfortable and cold airconditioning. The TV worked well and the others staying in the hotel were very nice. It has a long porch area with chairs, so you can sit outdoors and relax. The office is in the front, everything was perfect. Except for our own terrible situation with the bike breaking down, (and I'm VERY snooty & picky) I can't see why there are such negative reviews of this hotel.
The king bed we slept on was amazingly soft and comfortable. The twin was equally comfortable, but we didn't use it. I think if you are traveling with young children, that a husband & wife with a family would be perfectly relaxed and comfortable there. The thing is, I know the hotel is older, but it's all part of the "charm" of the place...it was probably built in the 50's and updated sometime in the 90's with decor and paint, etc. The owner is always there so we didn't have to worry about our safety or things being stolen. It's right downtown, within walking distance to everything, so we were able to enjoy some of our time that we weren't having the repair done. I couldn't believe the price, it was only $45 per night for the two of us and that's alot less than everywhere else. Id only stay someplace else if you're booking a hotel for the "name," only. If you want to pay for the ability to look at a sign that says Days Inn, or something...
I truly enjoyed my vacation there and remember that its older, ut certainly isn't unclean or dangerous or anything. And, you can't ask for a nicer staff--the owner was so kind to be so helpful. If you're on a budget but still want a relaxing and very comfortable place, this is it.
It even had a full kitchenette with appliances, toaster, coffee maker, and as I said before, microwave & mini fridge. Margaret & Rob Mays will surely stay there again (when our bike is fixed, of course! LOL! ) I would recommend this place to anyone, it was worth it and don't believe the bad reviews. :)

“Incredible place....absolutely the worst!”

We intended to stay two nights to bike ride on the Pinellas Trail. Our first negative indication was the discarded TV at curbside in front of one of the rooms as well as numerous discarded cigarette butts. The office was in total disarray although the Manager (owner) greeted us in a friendly manner. He showed us to our room which was a total shambles; exposed bulb in the overhead light, filthy floors and, the final straw, dirty linens and dirt and hair (not from a person’s head so I’ll leave it to your imagination) on the pillow. The door had a ¼ inch gap at the floor. We asked to see another room and it was marginally better but uninhabitable. What a shame; the location, across from a park on the bay, is perfect! We asked for, and received, a refund. Anyone who would rate this as a good, or even tolerable, place to stay must also think that gas station restrooms are clean.

“Don't Stay Here!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2007

This is the worst place we've ever stayed. Dirty, moldy, smelly. There were bare wires hanging from the ceiling which complimented the bare light bulb in the non-working ceiling fan. The bathroom window (there's no fan) opened onto and literally into the dumpster. Shower was absolutely disgusting. There was water seeping up through the bathroom floor. No heat (it was a little chilly the night we stayed). Broken furniture. Everything was stained or dirty. The bed had to be 40 years old. Shady characters hanging around outside, lots of noise. Went to leave and like the other person who reviewed this place, no refund. Tarpon Spings is beautiful with lots of history and fun things to do. We found the people at the sponge docks to be friendly, helpful and appreciative of our business. The guy at the motel needs lessons in customer service and hospitality standards. Do NOT stay at this place!

“Reminded me of a flop house”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 April 2006

After reading the website, we decided to give the place a try.
We should have known by the extremly low price ($59.00) for two people that it was not going to be luxurious. What we didn't know was that the room was going to be reminicent of a flop house. The room was FILTHY, no towels,no soap, toilet paper was on the back of the toilet because there was no holder for it. The bathroom,& claustrophobic, totally darkened shower had so much mold & mildew, that I then could understand why the price hadn't changed in 25 yrs (Obviously, nobody cleaned it in 25 yrs either!). The bed sagged in the middle, appearing that someone had just gotten up from lying down....and for just a couple of minutes, I thought we could tolerate staying there. I got over that really fast....I went to the office, got my traveler's check back, and drove as fast as we could, AWAY...PLEASE,DON'T GO TO THIS MOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
