Great Hotel.
All employees were pleasant, particularly at the reception desk.
The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the free internet worked fast. Tthe swimming was small but adequate. There was plenty to eat for breakfast even at 9 am.
You cannot hear the noise of Gandy Boulevard.
It was not a five star hotel, but we did not pay the same price as in a five star.

We stayed in this hotel because of a death in the family. The staff could not have been more accommodating. They offered family members a reduced rate on their rooms. We gathered several times in the evening in the dining area to meet or eat food we had brought in. Some of our party, because of the circumstances, did not arise in time for breakfast and the manager made sure they got something to eat. Could not have asked for more support from all the personnel there.

My first concern with a hotel is cleanliness and this place was spotless. It appears to be a family run affair and the rooms and common areas were clean, clean, clean! Rooms were normal sized and had wireless Internet( we had no problems) and a refrigerator.

Breakfast was par for La Quinta with sausage, omelets, and hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, juices, waffles, cereals, and sweets. Coffee and juices were always available.

Location was great for us with fast food (McD, Sonic, Dunkin Donuts, Subway,a Steak House and Hooters) within the block. Walgreens on corner. It's not near a beach,etc, so check surroundings on a map.

Pool was small but well maintained and well sheltered from other buildings and the street.

Street construction still going on, but not a noise problem, just getting into the hotel from one direction a little difficult.

First, regarding the previous review: Six months later, and the street in front is still torn up. I have no complaints about the size of our room however. It was fine; it was clean; and the bed was super comfortable. I agree the wireless internet connection was painfully slow, although it improved somewhat in the morning.

I got to the complimentary breakfast after the main crowd and found the pickings to be slim and pretty unappetizing looking. I had a glass of apple juice and a bowl of Frosted Flakes.

They didn't frost me nearly as much as later when I looked at my final bill. My reservation was at the AAA rate of $98.10. That was no bargain, but it was okay. What was NOT okay was the fact I was charged an additional $1 for "In Room Safe Fee." Geez! The room had an iron and ironing board which, like the safe, I neither asked for nor used; so I suppose I should be happy I wasn't charged for that as well.

We booked this room chiefly because of the location to an area that we were planning on kayaking in. When we arrived, we were warned that our 'cheaper rate' meant that our room was going to be very small. Since we had booked a king room with an AARP discount, we didn't know what the man meant.

We saw the room and felt it was unacceptable--a king bed but you could barely move around it. And the elevator was directly next to the room. We went to the desk and talked at length with the manager who felt he needed to tell us why this happened with an on-line booking. We just wanted a change of room which we were given. We were also given a reduced rate that was being offered.

Our room was good-sized, clean, had everything that we needed. We even ended up with a refirg which we didn't expect but definitely appreciated. Breakfast included hot omelets which we also didn't expect. The only negatives were road construction in front--certainly not their fault--and a very iffy internet connection. All in all, it was a very good stay.
