Terrible service, run-down room and never told about the breakfast until after it was over.
We checked in late at the after hours window. The clerk took my credit card and left abruptly before I could ask about AAA discount. I asked her when she came back and was told that I needed to ask for it before she ran the card, but she would leave a note for the manager. We were exhausted and went right to sleep. When we woke up, we noticed that the top sheet was completely thread bare. The edge of the sheet was no longer material but rather loose threads. We called the front desk at 9:15 to ask about coffee and were told that there was a breakfast included with the room but it closed up at 9:00. When we asked why we were not told about the breakfast, we were told we should have read the sign at the check-in window. There was no sign at the check-in window. The manager kept insisting that there was a breakfast notice at the check-in window, even after the desk clerk told her she could not find it. The problem, the manager said, was with us because we did not read the sign, which wasn't there. When we told the clerk about the sheets she just stared at us. When I asked about the AAA discount, the clerk said her manager told her she did not have to honor the discount because we did not tell the check-in clerk about it before the credit card was charged. During this whole exchange we were treated with contempt and never offered an apology or a civil word. At that point we called the Days Inn main office. The result was the manager of the hotel we stayed at sent us an apology form letter ( complete with misspelled words and bad grammar ) and an offer of a 20% discount on our next stay. We called the Days Inn main office and told them that we would sleep in the car before staying at that hotel again. We were given a 20% refund on the night we had paid for. I sure wish we would have read the Tripadvisor reviews before we stayed here!
