I read all the reviews on this location (many were not favorable) and given all the pricier options in town I decided to just roll the dice and suck it up for one night. Yes this hotel is older and rougher than most places I stay and I stay at lots of Comfort Inns & Comfort Suites. It could use a major makeover but I decided to keep it all in perspective and remember that the hotel condition & furnishings reflected the price. Many hotels in town were either booked up or seemed to have higher than normal rates. My thought was that FSU had a major sporting event but it turned out that the FL legislature was in session (remember that Tallahassee is the state capital). The comparable hotels that still had rooms were $35-50 higher per night than this Comfort Inn.
All that being said, the room was relatively clean, the front desk guy who checked me in & out was very personable, efficient and friendly. The breakfast bar was adequate but sparse. A big church group got in there before me and wiped out a few items and took up all the tables so I just carried it back to my room. There is no fitness center on location but your room key will get you into a fairly sizable fitness club up the road.
Take your pick. You can either spend more money and get that perfect hote & room or spend a little less and make do.
