“Not totally bad............”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I read all the reviews on this location (many were not favorable) and given all the pricier options in town I decided to just roll the dice and suck it up for one night. Yes this hotel is older and rougher than most places I stay and I stay at lots of Comfort Inns & Comfort Suites. It could use a major makeover but I decided to keep it all in perspective and remember that the hotel condition & furnishings reflected the price. Many hotels in town were either booked up or seemed to have higher than normal rates. My thought was that FSU had a major sporting event but it turned out that the FL legislature was in session (remember that Tallahassee is the state capital). The comparable hotels that still had rooms were $35-50 higher per night than this Comfort Inn.

All that being said, the room was relatively clean, the front desk guy who checked me in & out was very personable, efficient and friendly. The breakfast bar was adequate but sparse. A big church group got in there before me and wiped out a few items and took up all the tables so I just carried it back to my room. There is no fitness center on location but your room key will get you into a fairly sizable fitness club up the road.

Take your pick. You can either spend more money and get that perfect hote & room or spend a little less and make do.

“Adequate, But Could Use a Renovation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

I had a suite: king size bedroom, separate living room with jaquzzi, large bath with walk-in shower. Room had lots of amenities, but all need updating. There were cracks in the wall and ceiling, missing caulk, run down furniture, ect. The room simply needed renovating.

“Seen better, seen worse”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

My wife and I stayed here recently for a weekend in Tallahassee. Since we drove down from Atlanta, the property is conveniently located on the northside just off of I-10 and is easy to get to. Check in was problem free, and the staff member on duty was very helpful in suggesting restaurants to eat at that night.

Our room overall was fine. However we were expecting to have a fridge and microwave, and that was not the case. In looking again at their website, it says "some rooms have microwaves and......" It would seem to me that they need to get this "standard" for all their rooms. Some friends traveling with us, and paying the same rate, did have a fridge in their room. Not a big deal I know, but one of those little niceites we have come to expect at most Choice properties.

A hot breakfast was advertised, and to my satisfaction that did mean more than making one's own waffles. Eggs and bacon were served the two mornings we were there. A little variety might have been nice, but it was perfectly fine for starting the day.

I'm afraid I have to say that housekeeping was a little on the "slack" side. After arriving in our room we spotted a single fruit loop -- most likely a "stray" from the previous morning's breakfast -- under the writing desk. We decided to leave it there to see what happened. Next day -- still there. Kind of amusing, but the kind of thing that could have really set me off back in the days when I was wound tighter. The in-room coffee pot was not cleaned as well (although the coffee was replenished).

We slept well both nights we were there, and things were pretty quiet -- nice considering the hotel is just off of North Monroe, one of the busiest and most congested main drags in Tallahassee. However I'm sure this may not be the case on a football weekend.

Comments posted by others about the hotel being a little on the old side and needing refurbishing are generally accurate. The lobby is pretty nice, with a a gas log fireplace to provide some atmosphere.

Admittedly, price was the driving factor in our decsison to stay here -- about $62 or so with a AAA discount. That's still real money for me though, and although I have no big issue with our stay, this property is a notch or two below what I typically expect at a Comfort Inn. I think a major retrofit should be in the near future.

Room Tip: If a microwave and fridge are important to you, be sure to specify that up front.

“Yikes only for a football weekend no other reason to stay here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

This does not live up to the standards of a normal comfort inn. If its not a football weekend and you have other options stay elsewhere. Rooms very dated, furniture and carpet worn and an interesting smell not quite damp but on the verge. Location is great just off I-10 but thats about it.
