“Management Faux Pas”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2007

My wife and daughter stayed recently for two nights on a football weekend. The rates were nearly double at $99 per night, but of course all the local hotels do that on a game weekend. Check-in was easy, the room and bath were very clean, beds comfortable, sheets and blankets were clean. Everything worked fine. Road noise was high, but we can stand that. Overall, when I get this much out of a budget hotel, I never complain. A bad thing happened, though. When we returned to the room the following evening, we found it had not been visited by the cleaning staff. I called the office clerk who apologized sincerely, but admitted that the cleaning staff was gone for the day. They offered fresh towels if needed. No problem, I told them. We're not terribly put off by things like this, but I mentioned that since having your room cleaned is a significant part of a motel stay, that they should consider adjusting my bill to reflect the omission. The clerk contacted the manager who authorized knocking a whopping $10 off my $200 bill. Gee...thanks.

Second time staying here in 2006. Had an early flight out and needed a place to crash for a couple of hours. At 45.00 per night on website it was fine. Try to get a room to the left side of office as the street is noisy. The place is older but very clean and well maintained.

“You get what you pay for...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2006

The hotel is clean, and it was relatively quiet. If you just want to sleep somewhere and move on, this place will probably do.

However, I was not very happy with my two-day stay. (And, before I go any further, I'd like to mention that I generally stay at hotels in this price bracket, so it's not like I'm spoiled or anything.) The staff was not very helpful at all. I requested an extra pillow and another coffee packet, and they could provide neither. Also, a word of advice: bring your own shampoo; there isn't any complimentary shampoo or conditioner here. I've never stayed at a hotel that didn't have shampoo, so I was unprepared and had to wash my hair with soap. And I got the scare of my life when, after the maid had already been by (the only helpful employee I spoke to during my stay), someone tried to barge into my room without so much as knocking, despite the "do not disturb" sign on the door. Thankfully, I had the chain lock up, so I never saw who it was. The front desk said it was probably maintenance and would call back to let me know what was going on, but no one ever got back to me, so I still don't know who was there.

The neighborhood wasn't wonderful, either, to be honest. My husband and I were walking back from the gas station across the street when a group of people accosted us and threatened to steal our dog (!). I didn't feel safe walking around by myself to begin with, but I thought I'd feel better being out with my husband and our dog. No such luck!

Like I said, if you want to just check in, sleep, and check out, this hotel will probably meet your needs at a reasonable price. If you plan on staying in town, though, I'd just shell out a little more money and stay somewhere else. (And don't book through their website - you'll receive endless e-mail, even if you try to opt out.)

For the price you can't beat this place. Good location in decent area of town. Close to lots of fast food places. Definitely would stay again. Thumbs up to Econo Lodge.

“Great Hotel Give it a shot”

First let me begin by saying I was not happy about staying in an econolodge but this place blew me away. It was like staying in a Holiday inn or other 3 star hotel. I had a nice new king bed. A recliner was in the room. A work table this had a hair dryer, coffee maker, fridge, and microwave. When was the last time you saw an econolodge with those amenities. It also has a continental breakfast. I did my normal routine of asking for a special located room. WHile they did not have a map of the hotel the desk attendant knew all the rooms in the hotel. Again Very impressive. This is a nice little stay
