“Great experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

I was struck by the warmth and hospitality of the wonderful couple who welcomed me on my arrival at the hotel. They went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The hotel is situated in a good area and has easy access to several locations including restaurants, a pharmacy, and a shopping mall. The room was spacious, adequately clean, and well equipped with all the basics that you would need and not want to carry with you (iron, hair dryer, basic toiletries) plus tv, refrigerator, and a microwave. This hotel is a great deal for the price, and I would recommend it for anyone who visits Tallahassee.

“Wonderful Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

We stayed at theis hotel Dec. 3 and again Dec. 8, 2011 while we were on our way to and from Biloxi. Although this is a bit off the main highway. I would truly recommend this hotel. It's worth the extra couple of miles. The hotel itself is beautifully kept on the outside, and well as the inside, which was spotless. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. When we went, it wasn't too busy, and we were given an upgrade to one of their suites, which was HUGE. We didn't even have to ask for this, The staff made us feel special, which is something out of the ordinary, due to the fact that I am handicapped, and handicapped Suites are basically non-existant. What a lovely stay we had. Thank you so much.

Room Tip: If you are handicapped and require a lot of oxygen equipment, opt for the suite, you won't be di...

We request the suite which comes with a microwave and fridge, great for our young son's bottles The room is always clean and the staff are very friendly and professional. “Great Stay for the price! Would stay again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Spent two nights at the Pride Inn and we found it to be one of the better and cleaner BW's we have stayed in. Its a little older but then for the price you can't beat it! We were here to visit family in town.
The property is located right next to a Kohls (Good for my wife, bad for my wallet) and is on one of the main streets in Tallahassee (Apalchee pkwy)with a number of restaurants very close by and a major mall just across the street. Being a little set back from the main road was also nice because it was quieter and there's not much traffic on the little street it is on.
On Check in, upon seeing we had a baby the clerk asked if we would like a suite and upgraded us which was a nice touch. Also a supermarket (Publix) was just about a mile down the road which was very handy for getting stuff for the little one.
Visit Tom Brown Park if you can. Its a huge park with a dog park, walking trails and a park (to tire little ones out before sleep!)
We will stay here again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Stay on the second floor, towards the back. Its nice and quiet.

“Rate at check-in didn't match online one”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

This Best Western is obviously an older property, but it's set back quite a bit from the road. It's a short drive to restaurants, fast food places, a large shopping mall and the state capitol building. Immediately adjacent is a Kohl's store.

This is a motel with outdoor entrances to each room. We had a first floor room, which was convenient for our one-night stay. The room was quite large, with a small sitting area and desk near the door and a separate area with a king bed. There was a microwave and refrigerator, as well as the usual coffeemaker. The vanity area was outside the toilet / bath & shower area. The toilet wasn't well secured to the floor, and rocked slightly. There's definitely been some updating (granite countertops, for example), but the place still looks old. Although the tub had been repaired multiple times, the shower head was great and there was ample hot water. The hotel was barely occupied the Sunday evening we stayed.

Our biggest problem came at check-in time. We'd done our homework online while driving and knew there was availability and what we should pay with our AARP discount. The Best Western site gave us the best rate. We didn't reserve online because doing so on a smartphone is painful at best and we figured we could drive to the place and get the same rate. Wrong. As it turned out, the desk clerk could not get the computer to give us the same rate we were quoted on the Best Western site, even with our AARP card and even with showing the clerk the rate on our smartphone. So...we had to do the booking on the smartphone while standing at the front desk. After that, the clerk was able to come up with a rate close to the one we attempted to book online.

The room we stayed in had 3 separate locks on the door (deadlocks on the handle, above the handle and a chain lock). While the motel is somewhat secluded, this didn't exactly inspire confidence in the area's security. The key is somewhat of an oddity (looks a bit like a USB device), and didn't always work the first time.

The breakfast room is large and has 2 long counters with plenty of selections. The trouble was, everything (save for the cold cereal). was downright bad. The juice (cranberry, orange or apple) was about half-strength, as was the coffee. While there were hot items (sausage and powdered eggs...plus the ubiquitous waffle maker), nothing really tasted good. There was a selection of breads and donuts, but the donut I had was quite dry and stale. I suspect that having an empty hotel means they put the same old food out day after day. The management should consider reducing the number of selections and improving the quality of the food...which should cost the same or less than what they're currently paying.

In summary, this motel was OK, but isn't one we'd choose again.

Dear guest i thank you for your review. Unfortunately the rate you saw on line is what is called "as the internet rate only" with a seven day prepay and can not be cancelled after the seven day period. i do apologise for not being able to honor the rate you saw on line however, we did give you the closest available rate with a free upgrade to a suite. I do thank you for bringing the other issues to my attention and be assured that all steps will be taken to correct your concerns. All reviews are taken very seriously as this the best way for us to improve. About this being an exterior corridor property there is not much i can do to rectify this for which i do apologise once more. Please contact me directly and i will personally make sure your future stays are to your satisfaction.
