enjoyed our one nights stay in this quiet river community. it was low season and we were passing though. we telephoned from the road to check if a room was available and if there was a restaurant close by.
clean and comfortaable room. good recommendation to spend the evening at fiddlers bar.
hotel owner waved us off as we left in the morning !!

“Older motel, great value in sleepy town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

There was no other reason for me to stop in Steinhatchee other than it was a town in Florida I had yet to visit and I wanted to escape the dull repetitive drive on the I75. I choose to stop at the Steinhatchee River Inn based on the recommendation in Lonely Planet. Upon arrival, I found an older motel in a sleepy little Florida town. The town itself seemed very nice (definitely not scary!) The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. My room consisted of a sitting area, bathroom and bedroom. Not bad for $72 for the night. The hotel is older but the room was very clean. The bed was ok for sleeping. The hotel is located very close to some restaurants which were within easy walking distance. The town itself is very much a fishing village, so there is seemingly little to do if you are not into the sport. Nevertheless, for one night, this was a very good stay.

“Location was beautiful, cottage old and outdated”

Visited. Over thanksgivings weekend. The grounds were extremely well manicured and if you were to go with a family, there is plenty to do on the grounds. Anything from swimming to archery. I would also advise having a boat. There is nothing to do in the area, and the restaurants around are not good at all. We stayed in a cottage that was old ,carpet on the floors, a kitchen not very well equipped and mildew in the bathrooms.there are other cottages available..we might just have been unlucky with the one we picked. The resort however is very relaxing and as I said the grounds are beautiful.

Upon review of your submission, we believe you have the wrong lodging venue. We are an Inn. We do not have cottages nor do we offer the amenities you are speaking of.

“Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

My wife made reservations at this motel a few weeks ago. Subsequent to making those reservations we found these reviews of the Steinhatchee River Inn and the negative reviews
gave us reason for some concern.

Our stay is now over and from our experience the inn was well maintained, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the staff was attentive. There seemed to be no basis for the extremely negative reviews. We do a fair amount of traveling and know when we're getting a bad deal. This was not one of those times.

I had to downdrade the sleep quality on the ratings because it seemed the mattresses were getting old, but that may have been just in our room.

Room Tip: Our room had a sitting room apart from the bedroom. Since I usually get up a couple of hours before...

“never, never, ever think about staying here disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

Upon our arrival after driving for 7 hours, we were shown our room # 201 upstairs. Upon entering the smell of fabreeze was overwhelming as they were trying to cover up the smell of smoke and or the urine smell in the bathroom. I was then shown a room downstairs which was just as bad. SInce we had driven all that way we were stuck in our room #201. The room was absolutely disgusting, filthy and just overall not good. We stayed for 1 night and left the following morning as I did not sleep all night (afraid of creepy crawlies in the bed) I told the Mgr that we were checking out and after paying the Deposit of $157.08 in March, we also had to pay for that awful night another $104.00. I think the owner of this place needs to refund my money and instead of pocketing all the money they make they should put it back into the place to upgrade it.
