“Wedding Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

13 days ago I was married on the beautiful beach behind the Tropical Shores resort. I was a widow who thought I would never find love again then an old school friend came back into my life after 46 years. We began writing online since he still lived in the same town in New York where we went to school and I lived here in Florida for the last 8 years. He came to visit a year ago and proposed on Valentine's Day (my birthday) We knew we wanted to be married here in Florida and began researching our options. We both grew up on the water and knew the wedding was going to be on a beach. I fell in love with Siesta Key and started searching online for a place to have the ceremony. My first option was to have the wedding at Ophelia's where the reception was to be held but then I found the Tropical Shores. I began writing to Dawn (the manager) and she asked why I was getting married at a restaurant when I could be married on the beach. We continued writing back and forth and she made me feel comfortable and at ease. She was patient and understood my fears and concerns about making this the perfect day after so many years.

We booked the Grand Heron room...we hoped to stay 5 days but since we are in our sixties finances only allowed us to stay two nights. We arrived a day before the wedding. There was a dispute over a price but that was quickly settled and we were given our key. the room was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. My husband's brother had to fly in a day early because of an expected snowstorm in NYC and we were told his key and room would be ready upon his arrival no matter what the hour.He arrived at 2 in the morning and we were able to get him to his room so he could rest after a long and difficult flight. I was unable to meet with Dawn after all but the rest of the staff was warm, friendy and made us feel very welcomed. We were brought a bottle of champagne which was such a treat and so thoughtful.

The wedding the next night was perfect and we even got the sunset we were dreaming about.

A few of our guests stayed down the street at a motel that was ranked higher than the Tropical Shores and even they admitted our room was much nicer.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Siesta Key .... I was so sad to leave our beautiful room and hope to be back soon. Next time I hope to meet you in person Dawn so I can thank you for bringing me to your wonderful resort where my wedding was everything I dreamed about!

Deb Kelly

“Perfect boutique hotel on Crescent Beach!”

At the first thought of a trip, the planning begins. That means reading reviews, looking at photos, visiting websites, writing notes, and printing out directions. And most of the time, I get a feeling in my gut that a particular place IS the right place for us. Sure enough, The Tropical Beach Resort was perfect.

The resort is composed of several different hotels sharing the same grounds, private beach, and heated pools. These hotels are not your typical standardized Holiday Inn type places, but rather boutique, with each hotel having a variety of different rooms. Some are small and budget-friendly, and others are larger. We staying in the Grand Heron room, in the Tropical Sun section of the resort.

The Grand Heron has a very, very comfortable king bed with beautiful linens, a chest of drawers, a small kitchen with bar, a dining area with a nice glass table and chairs, plus a seating area with a leather sofa bed. The bathroom has a closet, jacuzzi and shower, drawers in the vanity sink, plus a medicine cabinet. I love a bathroom with storage...makes it so much easier to get dressed and put make up on after a shower, The room is modern, clean, and roomy.

The kitchen is fully stocked, even has coffee filters (no coffee) and salt and pepper. The only thing missing was paper towels or napkins! We might have been able to go to the office and grab some napkins, but we didn't bother.

There is a small outdoor table and chairs outside the room. So relaxing for drinking coffee or having a nice glass of wine. There are gas grills located outside for guests to use. The grills sit in a tiki hut, so even if it might be a bit damp outside, you can still grill your burgers or steaks. Plus, there are tables with umbrellas near each tiki hut, so you can grill, then sit down and have your picnic. We so enjoyed the steaks my son grilled for us!

The grounds are beautiful, with a waterfall, palm trees, tropical ferns, and hibiscus, and a beautiful path to the beach. Located off the path are several foot washing stations. Crescent Beach has the most beautiful fine sand, but it tends to want to stick to you more than coarser sand might. The beach itself is only a couple minutes walk, but because the grounds are so lovely with no streets to cross, it is an enjoyable walk.

There is a vendor on the private beach selling hot dogs, etc. and even breakfast! Plus, a grocery store, liquor and wine store, and several nice restaurants/bars within walking distance.

And, the office was so handy and considerate in supplying little things for us! They happily gave us plastic drinking cups and a a band-aid. Plus, they have coffee and cookies. When it was time for us to fly back to Richmond, the lady in the office even printed out our boarding passes!

And so, what is my recommedation concerning this hotel??? Go for it, you won't be sorry!

Room Tip: All rooms have a kitchenette, but some rooms are small. Check the individual rooms out before makin...

“A real find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Thanks Trip Advisor for your special deal that sent us to the Tropical Resorts on crescent beach. The first of two nights we were upgraded to a wonderfully spacious room with full kitchen and jacuzzi bath. The walk to the beach was pleasant on this private lane with other small resorts. The beach had the whitest, softest sand we've ever seen and we've seen a lot. We live in hawaii and just traveled to Aruba. No beach compares to Cresent's sand. Service at the resort was exceptional. Looks like a motel but doesn't act like one!

This resort is purely amazing. Words cannot describe how beautiful the resorts beach was.

The rooms were newly remodeled and so beautiful and the on site pools were so nice!

I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fun yet relaxing time on Siesta Key.

“"Believe the Reviews"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

We booked this property based on the numerous positive reviews. I was sure that a place with so many people saying so many great things about it had to be good. I was not disappointed. Tropical Shores (which consists of 3 properties in very close proximity) is a lovely, well kept property. Even though it is not directly located on the beach, the short walk is peaceful, beautiful, and not a problem whatsoever. Our Sandpiper room was spacious, consisiting of a king bed, leather couch, small dining table with four chairs in the kitchenette.
The room was comfortable and clean and convenient to laundry room, office, and pool. Every employee of this resort goes out of their way to make sure that the guests are happy and their needs are met. There are several convenience places for food and drinks within walking distance. Tropical Shores was our dream come true. We will be going back again, and again.
