The Tropical Breeze Resort in Siesta Key is a very convenient place to stay. It's just minutes to all of the action of Siesta Key, and there is plenty of things to do day and night. The hotel is pet-friendly, which is a must for my wife and I. The unit was very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and the area around the resort is beautiful. The pools were very clean but the hot tub was not hot whatsoever. They have gas grills in the common areas, which is always a huge plus. Every room has an assigned parking spot, making parking very convenient. There is plenty of quiet road to walk your pets, and the beach is just a stone's throw from the units. The stove, fridge, oven, toaster and microwave worked great. There wasn't central air in our unit, and our little A/C unit ran constantly. It was comfortable in the room but I could see it being a problem in the 90 degree summer. The staff is extremely friendly. The free wi-fi is nice for checking email, but turning off electronics should be a goal when staying here :-) One of the best things my wife and I loved about this place is that we parked the car and it sat the entire time we were here ... we had everything we needed, including a charming little grocery store, within a few minutes walk.
The room setup was a bit awkward. There wasn't really a living room per se, but more of a grand kitchen/dining/living area. The TV was mounted on the wall above the dining table with the couch on the far other end of the room. However, we didn't come to Siesta Key to sit and watch TV :-) The shower was very hot with great water pressure; very relaxing.
My only complaint about our room was the lack of some basic amenities. We had plenty of body towels but no hand towels for the shower. The refrigerator was equipped with an icemaker, but it was not hooked up. There also weren't any ice trays, so we bought some from the local supermarket. There was a minimal amount of plates, bowls, etc. so if you're staying for more than a few days or having guests over for a meal, plan on purchasing paper plates, etc. There were a few utensils in the kitchen, but there was very little food prep utensils. I had to chop onions with a steak knife on a plate. Cooking was tedious because of this. We'll be back to stay here again, but we'll come better prepared in terms of food preparation.
I would recommend the Tropical Breeze Resort. The only reason I would not recommend or return was if I were coming to Siesta Key with a boat in tow. Living in Florida, you really want a rental with a dock if you're bringing your own boat. And even if not, there isn't a lot of room for any type of vehicle with a long trailer.
