I was traveling on business and had to spend one night at your hotel. My expectation was for this Days Inn, like most, to be a $50-$70 a night hotel. I expected no frills, just a clean room at a reasonable price. I also expected that due to its location as a seaside hotel (Satellite Beach, FL), I could expect more wear and tear than I would normally find, which would also be acceptable. My room's locks were broken, requiring immediate attention. After spending an hour in my room in my socks, I noticed during my shower that my feet were black with dirt. The TV remote didn't work. The beds in the room were concave and in poor condition. But what remains most disturbing is that because there was a shuttle launch that evening, this Days Inn charged me $199 for the night. They were the only hotel with an available room, and now I understand why. Charging over three times their normal room rate, what this Days Inn did amounts to blatant price gouging. On check out, I asked the manager about this and he flatly told me that I made the reservation so it was my problem. When I asked him if he had any concerns over his lack of ethics poisoning the reputation of Days Inn, he could not have cared less. I understand that Days Inn are independently owned, but I can promise that I will not recommend or use this hotel again.
