We arrived late into Sarasota Airport so it was dark. We had been told, by two different staff members on different days, that the hotel was within walking distance to the hotel. No need for a taxi - just walk on over!
We discovered this was far from true as we lugged luggage, carry-on's and tried to keep from being run over by cars leaving the car rental area! No one in the airprt had any idea where the hotel was. We finally ran into a rental car attendant who pointed us in the direction of the hotel. We zig-zagged through the car rental lot, crossed grassy medians and a busy road only to find the hotel was stuck back even further down a dark road!
Upon finally entering the hotel, the gentleman at the desk was less than accommodating. He had "no idea" why anyone would tell us the hotel was within walking distance. "Everyone takes a taxi, it's only $7". The room was not the room requested and the only room they had available that was larger had been damaged by someone's pet. They had no roll-away beds, as had been requested, so my son slept curled up on a chair. VERY disappointing.
The return to the airport - all of a 5 minute taxi ride, cost us $28! Apparently, it is $7 PER person, not for the ride! I would have hoofed it back over, in the DAYLIGHT, had I known it was going to cost us that much!
Very disappointing as the other "Choice" brand hotels we have stayed at have been wonderful! Price was right for a less than 8 hour stay though, I guess.

Thank you for posting your review.The hotel is .30 mile from the airport but it can seem furthur at night !!! . I have traveled with my family in the past in unknown airport cities and I completely empathize with you. I understand that you stayed with us back in october of last year. Since then we have implemented a policy where we inform our guests the exact distance to the airport and also give the telephone number of the cab companies that pick up at the airport so that the guest may make his/her own choice based on the prices quoted to them by those cab companies. Rollaway bed requests are by requests only and while hotels make every effort to accomodate every guest request,sometimes we are unable to do so if all of them are already in use.
