We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights over the July 4th weekend and with the Offshore Powerboat Racing being in town, the hotel was the cheapest by a long way.
Due to past reviews, we were a little skeptical and yes they are correct, this place just needs a little bit of attention. i.e a fresh coat of paint in places..

Check-in was good, the rooms larger than we imagined, containing a fridge, microwave and TV (not flat screen or HD though, (if you are bothered about that sort of thing)
The beds were very comfortable, the pillows quite soft and the bathroom ok, nothing special but it was clean. The pool area was nice also.
The location of this hotel is excellent though, with it being a short and cheap taxi ride to main st, and Lido and Siesta Beaches..

All in all, if you use this hotel knowing its a 1 star then expect just that..

I purchased the stay on priceline and inadvertently chose a smoking room. I went back to the front desk to ask for a non-smoking room. I was told that every room was booked and pre-paid for the night. I asked if anything opened up that they let me know and I would pay the difference (knowing that priceline was slightly cheaper than there normal rates). They said it wasn't likely but would call if a room became available. At 10:30 PM we just couldn't take the smelly room anymore and I went back to the front desk in the hopes that room had opened up. There was a new person working the front desk and she told me that there were in fact 4 free rooms but that I would have to purchase a new room at full price. We left and drove back home.

I can't say I wasn't warned, but I wish I had paid better attention to the poor reviews of this awful motel. It was the worst motel I have ever stayed at. There were bugs everywhere. Filfth, dirt, and vermin. It was sickening.

Upon check-in, I noticed the motel totally different in person than on line pictures portrayed. Lobby smelled nasty was dirty and unkempt. "Breakfast area" was nothing more than a few small tables with a counter top. I asked to cancel the room and surly clerk told me I would be charged.
I asked to see the room and was told I had to check in to see room. My account was therefore charged. On way to look at room, the hallway smelled moldy and carpet unclean. Room was awful as well-smelled bad. and I told the clerk I could not stay in this place.
She informed me I would be charged for the room.
There were several people waiting to check in and I told her she could rent my room to another party.
I left the hotel and went to the lovely Wingate hotel in Bradenton. The manager in that hotel told me he would never charge a guest who was dissatisfied-not good business practice.
I have contacted the Board of Health regarding the unsanitary conditions of this motel.
I contacted the hotel manager and the Wyndham company two weeks ago for a refund and have yet to receive any feedback or satisfaction.
