Sanibel Island is perfect to rest for a few days: quiet, peaceful, nice beaches and miles of shelling. We stopped at the tourist office just on your right leaving the bridge. Very kind and helpful service. Following their advise, we stopped at the Beachview Cottages.
Being low season the deal for 2 nights was good. The friendly lady at the reception gave us plenty of tips for restaurants. The cottages looked like recently being painted, all in bright colours. Park your car next to your cottages, grab a beach chair for free and walk to the beach! They also have a few bicycles on a first come, first serve base for free and you can borrow a hair dryer at the reception.
The entire place has a certain charm and would be unbeatable if updated and kept tidy.
The cottages have a screened porch and a bbq outside. We rented no. 16 an efficiency with bath. I liked:
*the room size and island style furniture
*the bathroom of the 50': emerald green bath tub and sink
*being right on the beach
I diskliked:
*lack of cleaness of the accomodation
*matress and bed linen
*the noisy a/c and fridge (why in earth do you need such a big monster wasting electricity)
*kitchen (large) but not sufficiently equipped for cocking
In conclusion, if you are not looking for a fancy place and can accomodate with the oldy style, it is a nice place. I would go back if cottages would be renovated inside.
