We rented three units in November to celebrate our anniversary with our family. We were only staying four nights and the Sanibel Inn provided the flexibility we needed in terms of length of stay and types of units offered. We had a two bedroom condo for a family of four. It was well equipped with a full kitchen and washer/dryer. The two oceanfront suites had all the essentials for a couple, including microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator and dishes and nice view. All the units were furnished nicely, had a screened-in porch, and everything worked.
It's a smaller property so had a more intimate feel than some places. The grounds were nicely landscaped. The pool was heated, which was nice. You have privileges at the sister Sundial Resort and their pool was not heated and it was quite cool. Several times there weren't pool towels available at the Inn but eventually they got more out. You walk on a wooden walkway over a protective sea grass area to get to the beach. When we were there the beach was uncrowded and there were an adequate number of lounges. The lounges were a little worse for wear cosmetically but they worked fine.
There is a restaurant and pool bar on site which is convenient. We ate at the attractive restaurant for breakfast one day and the food was fine. We ate lunch at the pool one day. The one person working there seemed a little overwhelmed and it took a while to get the order in and get the food, but the food was okay. There are free bikes to use though we didn't try that. Also there are some beach toys for kids.
The Inn will not tell you which building you are in until the day you arrive so you aren't able to check out rooms in advance.
