We stayed at the Comfort Inn North in St Petersburg on Sat, Dec 3rd. I checked Trip Advisor the week before our stay and noted that someone complained about "bedbugs" a few months prior, so I called the front desk and questioned staff about the problem. They assured me there were no bedbugs in the hotel. We awoke Sunday morning and found we had been attacked by bedbugs during the night. There were blood spots on the sheets and dead and live bedbugs in the bed with us. I contacted the front desk clerk and captured live, blood filled bugs in a plastic cup and brought them down to her. We were horrified by the experience. Hotel management had no advice other that to offer us another room, but we were ready to check out and wanted out of there as quickly as possible. We bagged up our belongings and washed and dried everything we had with us, but are still extremely anxious about the possibility of having carried hitch-hikers home with us. The general manager sent us an email apologizing for the problem but blamed the guest(s) who stayed in the room before us. Also, after complaining, they refunded our room charge. We'll need that, and plenty more, to pay for the exterminator if any bugs hitch hiked home with us. What a nightmare!
