Very much enjoyed my stay here over the last few days with the ARFF Conference. As the title suggests, the bed I slept in was fantastic. I had superb sleeps every night (4 nights). Great pillows too. Although there is no way to close room doors quietly so occasionally, they were a little noisy.

Room is good, bathroom is great as well. WIFI is fantastic and easy to use. Excellent AC. View over the little lake was nice. I struck out one night in the restaurant with the Steak I ordered, but the server was quick to recover the situation. The following day at lunch, I had a fantastic burger prepared perfectly!

The gym facility is good, and the area surrounding the hotel is nice for a run. I went across Ulmerton Rd and ran around the golf course. Very nice little run.

My only thought was that this location was a little far from the famous beaches. I took the bus one day which took me about an hour to get to but well worth the trip - good adventure. Great bus system in St. Pete too!

While this Hilton is an obvious choice for business, it is also an excellent hotel for the leisure traveller, being centrally located for attractions in Clearwater, Tampa and St. Petersburg. The hotel is attractively decorated, has a nice pool and exercise facility, and has a very good restaurant (Luna). But the best aspect is its location on a small lake and conservation area. The walk on the boardwalk around the lake is very peaceful and provides plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing. The concierge lounge is another pleasant Hilton bonus.

Writing this on February 4th, Saturday: I was within one keystroke of booking this hotel for two nights in mid-February, using non-refundable points from United Airlines, when I paused to call and verify the hotel's "pets welcome" policy. This appears among the amenities on all websites--I wanted to know how the extra fee of $75 for pets would be applied...the desk clerk just said, "Oh, no pets allowed!" I asked what would have happened if we had arrived late at night with our pets* in tow and she said "Oh, we would have found you another hotel..." Right. That's why I spend hours researching just the right hotel! On the Hilton Hhonors website the 'pet amenity' is not listed. However, the external listings all showed pets allowed as an amenity. I know that all the hotel chains want travelers to use their websites, and this 'oversight' may be another way to influence us--but as with all nickel and dime-ing efforts, it tarnishes their overall image. Please post this to warn other travelers. *Because our pets are cats, we are usually extra careful, but to come this close to a major disaster because of the hotel's lack of attention to detail is really annoying.

I lived at this hotel for almost a month (for work). The staff was friendly, the room was clean, bed super comfortable. A decent restaurant/bar downstairs, gym with updated equipment and personal TVs on cardio machines...and a man made lake for a morning walk/jog! Add Starbucks, Publix and other restaurants super close and you got yourself a happy business traveler.
Also, downtown St. Petersburg is not that far away either.
