Only a very few rooms are oceanfront. You either love it there, or you hate it. Some say it is retro, others say outdated. When groups are there, they are noisy in the courtyard and you can't sleep. This is a place that many people stay at, sometimes a month at a time or more, and they come back year after year. If you stay in the really pretty solitary suite that is on the 2nd floor with central A/C (and almost always rented) you will love it except for the people who sit under your bedroom in the 'sitting area' under the suite and talk all night. Oh, and it has a private sitting porch area with limited view but people have access to it and like to sit on your porch. Overall, it feels like a 'club' to stay there. People are always in the courtyard watching one another, meeting people, and sitting and talking. Not for kids. Mostly retirees and snowbirds. I did not see elevators.

Our group booked a total of 8 rooms for family and friends for a wedding. We found the hotel a great place to gather with a wonderful center courtyard with a gas grill, two pools and right on the beach. The hotel is a mom and pop place, not at all fancy or new, but we found it clean, friendly and a wonderful place to stay and relax. It is an older hotel, the pus is with the concrete block walls and room a/c units we were never bothered by noise. Dottie was very friendly and helpful. The landscape is kept up beautifully and cleaned each day we were there. We are glad we choose the Miramar and will be back.

Where did the good reviews come from? The Miramar (Resort?) is greatlly overpriced, over-rated and out-dated. We found a blood splash on the bathroom door, dead flys on the windowsills next to a bed, hard beds and badly stained tub. The office clerk was unfriendly. On the plus side is the Gazebo area and the beautiful Gulf beach. But you can get this at another more modern hotel (resort) for either same or less money. We checked out next day and got a much better place for less money. Parking was terrible. Not enough spaces for guest volume

if you notice I wrote a great review in 2009---2010 was our 12th yr there and the worse under the new management of Mary. Dottie tries but Mary ties her hands. palmetto bugs for 13 days before we could get her to move us--bugs in clothes when moved had to wash everything and she knew it without offering to pay for it. Has an attitude big time said she was doing us the favor by being there for us. Asked for can opener and got attitude. Doors falling off cabinets and peeling doors rusting fixtures. About a doz of us month long people will not be back because of Mary -what a difference management can make---
