I arrived on a Sunday and retrieved keys from lock-box and visited the unit #204.
The unit was visually clean the bedding was at best sparse, the pull-out couch was a little worse for wear and when opened revealed two very crinkled sponge mattress toppers.
The pillows were somewhat stained and unsavoury-looking, there were pillow-cases.
The web photos sent to me showed a limited Ocean view, in fact the view was a parking lot.
There was no sun on that side of the building and hence the unit was very dark. It would have been depressing to sit on the balcony..
The advertised Barbeque grille was stuck under a concrete canopy in a corner definitely not a Beach barbeque.
The pool was extremely small much smaller than it seemed on-line.
We found the unit totally unacceptable and informed the agent that we would not stay there. She said there would be no refund of the total price we had paid, which was far less than the $1700 it normally rented for but would inform "The Manager" who would contact me.
We went and found a wonderful apartment down the street at Don Cesar Beach house with daily maid service and full use of the Don Cesar Hotel facilities for roughly the same money . Needless to say "The Manager' of TRS never contacted me and no offer of any amelioration was forthcoming. The lack of contact I found totally unethical and would encourage no one to do business with them.
We did notice during the week the Fire Brigade visiting this establishment

We stayed in unit 501. Everything was perfect except the sliding door to the front balcony was hard to slide. (common problem on the beach) My wife and I had our own bathrooms. We paid less than a cramped single room beachfront hotel in the same area.

Condo was beautifully furnished - could have been a model suite. Internet worked well, as did AC (important in August!). Appreciated washer/dryer as there is no tool service, being a condo. Extra space was great. Highly recommend.

My family and friends of ours have now being going to the Gulf strand for the last 9 years for the last couple of years we have seen the property deteriorate, and repairs that we reported last year that needed doing this year had still not been done. Our friends stayed in our apartment from last year and were very disapointed with the condition. We love the Gulf Strand and we have made some really good friends there over the years and for this reason we keep coming back, the location is perfect the views the sunset are amazing. This year though I heard a lot of people complaining about the standard of the rooms and really think the Gulf Strand need to listen to there customers and ensure that the units are maintained. They were beautiful when we first started staying at the Gulf Strand and I have to say when Rebecca worked there the property was maintained to a much higher standard. The rates would be good value for money if the standard of the property was increased. The cleanliness of our room on arrival was appauling the floors were filthy we found an old baseball hat under the bed covered in dust and one of the blinds was just thrown under the bed, none of the floors had been cleaned. The fridge doors had no compartment holders so everything fell out of the the fridge, lights didnt work properly, it is these small things that make the difference, we also for the first time in 9 years had to endure nights with hardly ANY sleep due to a unit being let out to young people who partied all night and screamed and ran up and down corridors at 4am in the morning banging and slamming doors lots of residents reported this but nothing was done. We have always loved the Gulf Strand and have not experienced this there before. We really want to return again next year as it is like a second home to us and our friends and we will give it one more chance but please Gulf Strand sort out your cleaners and sort out the units........we have had 9 great years there and would like to have many more. it would be sad for us to have move on.
