After reading previous reviews posted by other travellers I would like to thank TripAdvisor for posting all reviews postive and negative. Unfortunatley my experience at The Lamara was not as positive as others, we can all appreciate everyone experiences are different but when we write on TripAdvisor we should respect the imput of others. My experience with the bedbugs was quite an ordeal, which left me quite sick and needed medical attention. This situation should have never happened if it was taken care of properly in the beginning. I needed to let the viewers know that the problem came to light in May and it was not really solved until June 14 when I saw the bugs under my mattress and pillow. I have travel alot of places in my 50 plus years and never thought to look for bedbugs but as we know now they are widespread, I would recommend to anyone travelling to goole bedbugs to learn exactly what they are capable of doing so your holiday would not be ruined. Perhaps when people do write their positive remarks they should know all the facts, and not comment on things they think they know, I was not complaining about dirty towels , pots & pans but yes BEDBUGS. I guess to sum it all up I hope these nay sayers never encounter these pests and if they do I truly hope they let other travellers know the location so we can stop the spread of bedbugs. No I would not stay there again how could anyone if it happens to them.

After reading the bed bugs review, I felt compelled to add a review as well. My family and I have been staying at The Lamara for over 16 years now and perhaps I am biased, but I think the fact that we choose this motel each time we visit Florida, speaks for itself. The accommodations are delightful. Perhaps at first blush someone may be underwhelmed by The Lamara, however if they are clever enough to give it a chance, they will be drawn in just as our family has been. The Lamara has a charm that creeps up on you and makes you feel at home in a tranquil and family oriented setting. The pool is absolutely beautiful and pristine, the rooms are spacious and clean, the service is attentive and superior to most places I have stayed, and perhaps like anything, you get back what you put in to something. Our family and friends who stay at The Lamara are completely respectful and appreciative to the owners of the Lamara and in turn they just could not be nicer or more respectful and appreciative of us. I hesitate to write this review simply because I appreciate the fact that it is a quiet motel and perhaps when people read this, the Lamara will be more in demand. However, reading the review about the Bed Bugs, I could not stay quiet any longer. I was staying at the Lamara when this incident occurred, and while it is unfortunate, the owners of the Lamara responded promptly and efficiently and were completely professional in their approach to the situation. I regret that the person who gave the input decided to write a review to speak of the only negative aspect of the Lamara that I have ever heard of and this incident lasted for just one week and when it was discovered, it was resolved immediately. Perhaps people should consider the impact of their words before writing something so negative and ill natured.
I guess to sum it up, The Lamara?.... FABULOUS! I wouldn't hesitate again and again.

We enjoyed our stay here. Since we picked this motel we noticed on the site the reviews with a lot being negative. I did inquire about the review about the beg bugs and the owner said that anyone can get bed bugs, but it depends on how it is handled. She called the exterminater right away and they took care of the problem. They threw out many things too just to take extra precautions. Not all places would have done that. If you've heard on the news, bed bugs are really wide spread right now and becoming a big issue. It obviously is not the owner's fault, but she took care of it promptly. We loved our stay there. The rooms were clean, granted not the Ritz, but comfortable and warmly decorated. The owner told me that her family has a lot of plans to update the motel. They have already done some and showed us one under renovation since we said we would love to come back. Our kids had a blast in the pool and it was close to the ocean and many restaurants and shops. We had a great stay and will enjoy the LaMara again.

We have stayed at Lamara for the last several years, and would not hesitate to return again. The value is good. It is a smaller property where you get to know people and return each year to see them again. The grounds are well kept and location is good. The family who operates the property works very hard to please you. I wonder about the people who write negative reviews, as with anything in life if you treat them with respect the owners were always very accomodating, and happy to have friendly faces return each year.
