“Comfortable but loud.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

During our recent Christmas vacation, my husband and I booked two nights here with my Marriot Rewards points. I had stayed here before on business, so I was already familiar with the hotel. My main complaint was that the staff did not make any attempt to intervene with families that were there for some sort of conference, but had no issue with allowing their young children to scream at the top of their lungs in the lobby, which is atrium style. The children seemed to love hearing their screams echo throughout the entire hotel, the parents did not seem to care, and nor did the hotel staff. Of course being on vacation without children, we found this to be more than annoying, especially at 8:00 in the morning.

Additionally, I was a bit annoyed that we could not order breakfast in our room more than an hour before the end time because the restaurant had stopped room service early for their $39.95 per person Christmas buffet, which we were not interested in as we had other dinner plans later that day. When I inquired if we could order a regular breakfast in the restaurant, I was told that the only thing available was the $39.95 buffet. iHOP here we come!!!!

“Simply Amazing!!!”

We statyed there for Christmas weekend 2011 and had a wonderful time. I will be returning there again. The decor and ambiance I appreciated. The landscaping and the walking trails that they have were very nice for a romantic stroll. Since it was Christmas weekend the Golf attractions were closed, but we did our own sight seeing of the village and were impressed.

I will return there again but next time take the family. This was a very nice romantic get away :) Room service was very quick.

“Good resort property with in-town shuttle”

We had a really good time at this resort. Although we stayed here on a freebie from Marriott, they gave us a very nice room. The king bed was very comfortable; we appreciated the seating area and the bathroom was very spa-like (downside--no bathtub). The lobby was beautiful and the hotel has a contemporary-designed theme with a courtyard. The outdoor seating area is lovely and comfortable. Coffee shop on-site. The staff was both friendly and helpful.

However, one of the nicest things they offered is the free shuttle service to historic downtown St. Augustine. It ran several times a day and, considering the that hotel is located out of the city, was invaluable to those who don't want to face the hassles of finding parking on the busy holidays there.

The on-site restaurant was good and reasonably-priced. The staff was very friendly.

The only thing that didn't work out was that the pool's heater was out of service, so no swimming this time, but, after walking around the downtown for hours, the hot tub was heavenly on tired, aching feet.

In addition to the hotel, there were also additional restaurants, shops and, even an IMAX theater close by. We don't like golf, but would very much like to stay here again for the amenities.

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

This was a nice hotel but still had some problems. Everybody was nice when we checked in and we even got a discount for being a AAA member. We then decided to go and eat at their only restaurant. At the restaurant I ordered a Roy Rogers to drink (A mix of coke and grenadine) since it looked like they had grenadine, which they did. When I drank some of it, it tasted like they just gave me plain coke. I asked them to put a little bit more in, but it appeared they poured in the whole bottle. I sent the kids to go to the pool to check out the temperature, they told me that the main pool was freezing and the hot tub was the temperature that the main pool should have been. Later my kids were bullied by some Turkish girls that were chasing them around the hotel and calling them names they wouldn't leave them alone so my kids had to stay in are room for the rest of the day.

“Nice Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

Very nice rooms but hotel is isolated. We just went for the night for our anniversary. We were not into the golf attractions and there is only one restaurant. . . but the food was good.
