My wife and I read great reviews of this hotel so we booked in for three nights on our first ever visit to St. Augustine. What you get here is a very relaxing experience in a clean, well maintained property with friendly, efficient staff. If you are looking to be in the middle of the action, surrounded by restaurants, nightlife and people, this not the place for you. Unless you are an ambitious walker, you need to drive to St. Augustine, but it is an easy 5 minute drive, and you can park in a public facility for a reasonable fee for an easy walk to everything. The hotel is in the quiet community of Vilano Beach. Some parts of the neighborhood are a bit shabby; at first this put us off a bit, but the neighborhood has its old Florida charms and we discovered them quickly. There is some upgrading going on, so you may have a bit of noise during the day, but we did not find it bad at all. There is a new Publix grocery/pharmacy across the street, which we frequented as a means to eat healthy, inexpensive meals, as we had a fridge, microwave and sink in the room. There is a public beach about 100 yards away -- not the most spectacular beach in the world, but quiet and lovely, ideal for walking or just chilling with a book. The included breakfast in the lobby is excellent, and made even more pleasant by the charming gentleman who cleans the tables and keeps everything organized. And there are restaurants around. I highly recommend the great little Cuban place, the Tropicana, which is half a block away. We really enjoyed this hotel and will go back.
