“great location, but a" tired" inn”

The location of the hotel is excellent but it is neglected in terms of upkeep. The first room we were assigned had carpet that left the soles of our feet so dirty, marks were left in the shower stall; the fridge had been removed, we couldn't get access to the hair dryer under the sink; and the key lock failed. We were moved to another room because of the key lock but in the new room, the carpet had the same problem, there was no fridge, the shower plumbing failed, and the water was discoloured. Response to the report that there might be a bit of a problem was evasive...pleasant, but evasive.
We got the feeling that the hotel might be on the "sales block"...it's becoming rundown.

“Pretty, friendly, well-located”

We spent a night here and wished we could have stayed longer. We chose the Bayfront Inn because we wanted to be within walking distance of the old town sights (since our stay was so short) and we weren't disappointed. What we didn't anticipate was how pretty the Inn would be, with lots of special architectural touches and nice white lighting (may be seasonal?). The staff was friendly and also helpful with restaurant suggestions. On our departure date we appreciated being able to leave our car in the parking lot while sightseeing in the town. We would happily return.

Each year we travel north during Christmas and always pick the Bayfront Inn to stay at. The rooms are roomy and the location can't be beat. We reccomend the Bayfront for your travels - you will not be disappointed!

“An awesome vacation.”

My husband and I went to St. Augustine this past weekend.. It was more of a last minute trip, and between the places that were booked up and the ones that were too expensive, Bayfonr Inn seemed to be a good choice. This was a great deal. The ladies who work there are so nice- the woman who checked us in was hands down the nicest hotel worker I have ever dealt with, and considering we checked in in Christmas day that says a lot. The rooms have been renovated and were very nice. Please note that you can hear people above you, below you, etc. Also, even though the rooms look nice there is a slighly musky smell. This is all due to the age of the hotel. If you want to stay in the historic distric this is what you are going to have to deal with! It really isn't that bad though, and I thought it just added to the experience staying somewhere that had been around for so long.
This hotel is near everything- we didn't have to get in the car until we left. You can walk to the trolley stop, or just walk around town as we did. It's really not that big!
There have been complaints that the breakfast isn't great- no, there was nothing spectacular. I was fine with what they offered though. They had different types of toast, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, apples, and beverages. It was more than ok considering the price of the room. Of course you can pay an extra $100 a night and stay at a B&B...I'd rather spend the money at a resteraunt for dinner!
The best part was coming back to the hotel the first night and seeing the Christmas lights up. What a nice surprise!
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here.

“The breakfast food and afternoon snacks will definitely bring me back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011 via mobile

Our trip was a week before Halloween and since St. Augustine is supposed to be the most haunted city in America it really made me wonder if it would be safe here because the first things I noticed were several black birds sitting on the Bayfront Inn sign. After checking in, my daughter's best friend picked up her large suitcase and when she set it down one of the wheels broke. She said she had packed her whole closet in it. Our room was fine (Esmeralda), next door to the kitchen. That 1st night all three of us were awakened when the bathroom door suddenly opened and hit the side of the wall with a loud bang! I just thought it was my daughter going into the bathroom, but the next day we discussed it and it was not any of us and our door was locked! We had the best breakfast the next morning (frittata). That was my first time to eat that delicious egg dish. That afternoon we had all kinds of snacks, healthy ones! They also had soft drinks, juice, and wines. Every day was a little different; but always excellent! We always ate outside on the porch where we would talk, plan our adventures and watch the ocean. Parking was somewhat of a problem because you had to drive down the block to get a spot, but I am still hungry for more of that yummy frittata!
