Saint Augustine is a hub of activity during the Christmas holiday season. After a busy day of touring, Castle Garden in the ideal B&B to rejuvenate and prepare for another day of touring. Bruce the proprietor is freindly, interesting, and customer oriented. The quiet was wonderful after 3 nights in a noisy hotel.

Our recent stay at St. Aug's Castle Garden B&B was, as the proprietor said, "like staying at Grandma's", you know, quaint with odd creaky stair and cozily stuffed with many antique furnishings.
Located on the north side of Ripley's, it's SO close to everything (without all the parking problems ... or meters !!).
Being just a few steps from the Historic FORT, it's a pleasurable 60 second stroll past the Old Cemetery and on to the north City Gate at St. George St., along with ALL else that downtown St. Aug has to offer (did I mention the ample FREE Parking ??)
After a 1st Friday Night excursion at the famed "St. Aug Artwalk", we had a peaceful slumber in a soft comforting bed and awoke to some great coffee and a multi-course breakfast being served in the dining room.
We were treated like 'family' ( the GOOD side, don't cha' know ) and DID enjoy our stay ... we would certainly stay there again.

I love St. Augustine so my husband took me for my 30th birthday. We waited until the last minute to book our room, and only going for 1 night we knew some B&B's would be booked and others wouldn't allow a 1 night stay. But Castle Garden made an exception! Check in was at 3, we arrived a little after 4 and our room was not ready yet, Bruce advised it would be a few moments and offered us a drink. While waiting a very nice older couple came in and we chatted for about 20 minutes while Bruce readied our room. We stayed in the West Castle Loft room, it was cozy, we had our own bathroom and the bedding was well kept. Breakfast was nice, granola cereal, pancakes and sausage with coffee and OJ, simple but yummy. Castle Garden is at a great location too, its on the same road as the fort, just a 2-3 minute walk and you are there and then you can go right back into town, it was a perfect location for starting from one end, going around and coming back through the other side of downtown. We didn't get to speak to Bruce too much as we only stayed for 1 night and we were gone most of the time but the little we did speak to him he was very friendly and knowledgable.

If you like St. Augustine History and want to stay in the carriage house of the Mansion that started it all, stay here. The Inn Keeper (Bruce) is very hospitable and can offer a great deal of hitorical knowledge about the area. You will be just steps away from all that Ol' downtown St Augustine has to offer. The Castle Garden Bed and Breakfast is the old carriage house to the Warden Mansion (Flagler's business partner) now the famous (and haunted) Ripley's Museum. My room was very comfortable, and shower was HOT! I'll stay here again.
