“Great Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

What a wonderful stay and a wonderful place. Marie and David made you feel like you were part of the family, We stayed at the Treetop room and we could sit out on the porch and listen to the music from downtown. I have Celiac and Marie made sure I had gluten free cookies for the afternoon and we had a traditional Enlish breakfast the next morning that was gluten free.
She was so helpful when we were trying to choose a restaurant for dinner. We have been back for 2 days and I have told everyone about this place. Betty keeps the rooms so clean!!!
We will come back here whenever we are in town again!! Thanks again Marie, David and Betty!

“Just what we wanted!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I loved staying at the Penny Farthing Inn. It is in a great location. Dave and Marie are wonderful hosts. It was my Husband's birthday and Marie gave Brad a delicious cupcake with a candle in it -- such a sweet touch! Despite my minor criticisms, the Inn is just so lovely and the hosts incredibly warm and inviting, these to me are really non-issues, but you may want to know. We stayed in the La Casita room, which is dark and a little crowded with the king sized bed in it. We liked the "Dawn" room better -- but still La Casita fit the bill -- our main requirement was a king sized bed and private bathroom. Marie let us walk around and check out all of the rooms that were in between guests -- we saw the Tree House room and the Attic Room and still like the Dawn room the best. Except for soap, the bathrooms are not stocked with any supplies -- you need to ask for shampoo, conditioner, etc. It is not a problem and the hosts will bring those to you, but just so you know. Also, one morning at breakfast the oj was missing and the hot water for the tea was really cold the next morning -- as if it were left over from the night before. Again these are oversights that you would not expect to find in a 5 star place, but the Penny Farthing is more like home than a hotel. All I needed to do was ask and it was never a problem. The sherry in the rooms is a really nice touch. There is plenty of wine every evening and just really great company. I would definitely stay here again, without hesitation.

Room Tip: See if you can check out the rooms before you reserve. Of all of the rooms with a king sized bed, we...

“4th time staying here...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We make several trips to St. Augustine during the year, and we simply will not stay anywhere else but the Penny Farthing. The breakfasts here are amazing, and the proprietors (David and Marie) are always incredibly friendly. Betty is also quite friendly, and our rooms are always spotless upon our return from a day's outings.

There are a ton of other places to stay, but the attitude, cleanliness, room quality, and overall feel of being at a second home have assured our loyalty. We'll be returning in 2012 and, of course, staying here!

Room Tip: We've yet to stay in a room we haven't liked.

“Our First Year Anniversary Success Story”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

My husband and I recently celebrated our first anniversary at the Penny Farthing Inn. Originally, I chose the inn because of the location, but when we return to St. Augustine in the future, it will be because of the amazing service, heartwarming atmosphere, and delightful surroundings of the Penny Farthing. Marie was a charming hostess and a wealth of knowledge about the town for these south Florida tourists. We enjoyed the gourmet meals, coffee/tea on the house, and delightful amenities of the Inn. Our room (The Dawn) was absolutely endearing and I'm sure that we'll request it when we visit again. The private entrance, outdoor swing, fireplace, and jacuzzi were all welcome relaxation goodies for tired tourist feet. Thank you SO much, Marie, for making our get-away perfect! I have recommended the Penny Farthing to all my friends and relatives!

Room Tip: The Dawn is the perfect room for a couple!

“Authentic B&B Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

My wife and I always choose B&B's when possible on our travels. This was our 4th visit to St. Augustine and our 4th different B&B. We chose the Penny Farthing based on the recommendations and quite frankly it was available. We are quite glad we did. Dave and Marie are very involved owners which we prefer in a B&B. They are very friendly and personable and see to it that your stay is memorable. The weekend we stayed was the 18th annual B&B tour and their Inn was in the tour on Sunday. Our room, the Victoria, was open for the tour. We arrived back at the Inn about an hour before the tour was over and were welcomed to sit in the palor and greet visitors, enjoy homemade scones and offered Irish Coffee as it was cold and rainy. It was made with Scotch and was 2 parts Scotch, 1 part coffee and while not traditional Irish coffee it was SO good. As with most of the Inns in town, you can walk to everything from here. If you are looking for a traditional B&B experience where you are truly a guest in someone's home, where you will get to know the owners, and have a memorable visit, the Penny Farthing will not dissapoint.
