“Excellent Value, Wonderful Locaion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I was here for business in Mayport, and rather than stay along the "strip" near the base, I decided to try for something a little more peaceful. This Garden Inn was perfect, and the staff was really exceptional. The desk manager recommended a VERY affordable place to hit golf balls, then called for us to find out availability. Breakfast was delicious, and for a four-morning stay, was different every day. The rooms were a little strange. I was upgraded to a suite with a huge but almost empty livingroom, but the bedroom was very nice and the bathroom was huge. Good price, friendly staff, comfortable rooms - can't think of much better.

“Nice Hotel, good location”

I recently spent a several days at the Hilton Garden while attending a conference at a nearby hotel. The Hilton in conviently located adjacent to a shopping village with easy walking to shops. There is a Publix supermarket just across the parking lot (very convient to stock up on snacks, etc) There is also an adjacent restaurant and salon.

Even though I was there nearly a week, I didn't get to explore the entire facility due to very full schedule, but what I saw was all very nice. The lobby area was nice and clean. Like most Hiltons, they have coffee available for free in the lobby (Starbucks) and a very convient pantry carrying most of the items you might need or want after the stores close. They have a shuttle that will take you to the nearby Sawgrass Marriot. I used the shuttle several times and the drivers were always very friendly and helpful. BTW...it is an easy short walk if you want to walk over to Sawgrass.

The rooms were fairly large. I had comments from my colleages staying at the Marriott that our rooms in the Hilton were much larger. The room was clean and well stocked. Microwave and fridge were also in the room. I had no mechanical problems with the room. I also found the bed very comfortable (contrairy to other reviews).

The service was good. The front desk staff was polite and helpful. The only issue I had was that one day I did not get my in room coffee creamer replaced and the next day the creamer was there, but no coffee. This was rather anoying but I survived by trudging down stairs and grabbing two cups from the lobby.

I also had breakfast at the Hilton a couple of mornings. It was fairly quite in there, not many customers. The food was buffet with make to order eggs. The scrambled eggs I ordered were perfect and a very large portion. Other than that they had the standard breakfast fare, muffins, fruit, sausage, bacon, etc. All fairly good.

Overall, a nice hotel and a good alternative to Sawgrass.

“Very nice, if pricey, hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The Hilton Garden Inn is a very nice hotel located in the posh neighborhood of Ponte Vedra Beach. The location is nice - it sits between a shopping area and gated community, so it's very quiet and there is not a lot of foot traffic by the hotel. The staff were friendly, professional, and accomodating of special requests. Down side is that there is no complimentary breakfast, but there is a breakfast place on site. They also offer room service from 5pm - 10pm. We didn't try the restaurant or the room service. The rooms are basic, but the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are super clean.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor and it was super quiet. We felt like we were the only guests in the hotel.

“Poor service, bad beds”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Place is in need of a facelift - carpet in the room and in the hallways is pretty dingy with dirty appearance. The room was large and has a fridge/microwave, but no artwork at all. Surprisingly, the mattress has not been upgraded like other hotels - it is hard as a rock, but pillows are nice. Nice exercise room with state of art machines with TV. Neutrogena bath soap and shampoo was also nice. Not so nice is the staff - no customer service skills. No smiles, no thank you for spending $100 each night. They do bake cookies each night, but again, no one made you feel welcome to have one. Location is good but must drive to the beach. Just not a happy place.

Room Tip: A few rooms have balconies.

I want to personally apologize for the problems that occurred during your stay with us. We pride ourselves in providing the “greatest customer experiences – each day, every time” and I am truly sorry that your stay with us did not meet your expectations.

Thank you for taking the time and letting us know about your experiences. Without feedback from our guests, we cannot improve. Feedback like yours lead us to replace our king beds earlier this year with the new Garden Sleep System adjustable beds and coincidently we are replacing all of our queen beds this week with the new Serta Perfect Sleeper beds.

Please be assured that we will thoroughly review your other concerns as well and make whatever changes are necessary to ensure future guests are not similarly inconvenienced.

If I can be of any personal assistant to you in the future feel free to contact me directly at the hotel (904) 280-1661 ext-1120 or you can email me at Chuck.schoonmaker@Hilton.com.

“Didn't live up to our expectations”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights over Thanksgiving. Upon walking into the lobby, I noticed the slight smell of chlorine, even though the pool wasn't right there. When we entered our room, there was a slight smell of wet carpeting. We inquired about it, and they checked with Housekeeping, who said the carpets had not been cleaned.
They let us check another room, and it also had a musty wet carpet odor. So, we stuck with the first room. When we went to bed, I noticed the sheets had a faint chlorine/bleach odor, and I mentioned this at check-out. They told me we could have requested new sheets.
We were on the 6th (top) floor and could open the windows in our room. So we left them open a small crack all of the time, which helped get some fresh air in the room. But there were no screens on the windows, so we couldn't leave them open too much.
The breakfast buffet is very good, however the dining area is small. On Thanksgiving morning, a nice mom and her daughter offered us to sit at their table of 4, as those were the only 2 seats left.
It was very quiet in the hotel, despite it being over the holiday.
It is conveniently located next to a shopping center, grocery store, and the Sawgrass Marriott Hotel. Sorry, but the Marriott will win out next time we're in that area.

Room Tip: Our room requests were met -- We got a top-floor room away from the elevators.
