“What a difference a year makes!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed here last year and were very pleased. In one year the motel has taken a major hit from constant use and marginal care.
On the plus side the rates are reasonable and the site is only 15 minutes from the port and airport. Abundant shopping and eateries are within walking distance. The area around the motel is safe and pleasant. The motel is quiet as long as the dog in the room next to you doesn't start to howl. By the way, when did so many motels go to the dogs?
Rooms need to be cleaned. The carpets and furniture are stained. There is no laundry and cruisers will find this to be a drawback. The pool area needs some TLC. The parking areas need to have the stains power washed away. The desk needs more than one clerk during busy hours. Management must realize that lack of attention to employees will surely cause the popularity of the site to suffer. The clerk was still eager to please but trying to maintain the buffet and handle checkouts is too much.
We would stay here again but only after checking motels close to this area.

“Noisy, Had to Change Rooms 3 Times”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

The hotel is well located if you have business/visiting west of Ft. Lauderdale. The hotel is very noisy. Lots of dogs, and lots of barking dogs. Had to get my room changed 3 times before I got a quiet room - that was clean. The first room that was given to me, was a ground floor with the window wide open when I entered. Not a good choice by the hotel staff for a single woman. The pool was okay, but I had to wait 30 minutes for a pool towel from the front desk. The breakfast was okay.....lots of the healthier choices, for example yogurt, were not put out unless you asked. The front desk was very nice and accomodating, but in short, it was really inconvenient to have to waste 45 minutes changing rooms and dealing with the front desk before I got a quiet room where I could sleep after a long day of travel. The hotel does not enforce guests staying with their dogs, and many people left barking dogs (little yappy ones) while they went out for long periods. I wouldn't stay there again.

Room Tip: One far away from dogs. Also you want to avoid ground floors that have windows that can be opened.

“Great and really bad at the same time.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I am torn on this hotel. I had several problems while I was there. The were all issues dealing with the room. The following things happened: the air conditioner would turn on only when we lowered it to 71 degrees. It never turned on at night, only during the day. At one point it completely turned off and we had to hit a button underneath it to reset it to start. The continental breakfast was hopelessly average. One of the chairs at our table was broken. It took three days and three calls to get it replaced. There was a hole in the seam of the couch that was three inches wide. There was a dark stain in the carpet a foot wide. But the worst, was that I was given a hand towel that had obviously been laundered, but had...wait for it....pubic hair interwoven in the fibers! GROSS!!!!! The pubic hairs on the shower wall didn't thrill me either. You notice that I gave the hotel a rating of average instead of extremely poor. It is because there were some good things too, and I felt it was unfair to only be critical. So, here are the two things I liked... The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The best thing about the hotel was the front desk staff. I have never been to a hotel whose front desk staff was more professional, more respectful to me or my concerns. They always were polite and friendly, no matter how many times I went to or called the desk. When I told them about the towel and the other issues, they immediately did their best to remedy the situation. It is a shame that the front desk did such an excellent job of doing their best to make our stay great, while at the same time the housekeeping staff did their best to sabotage it.

“Very good”

Next to the Broward Mall so shopping is a skip away.
Free standard continental breakfast. Good internet. Working A/C.
Clean, room service was timely.
Fast checkin.

Only complaints..A/C for some reason trips. So the guy at the reception directed me to push some reset button (obviously a known issue).
Hotel gets loud in the evening when persons seem to be drunk coming in. So a little more insulation in the doors or something would be nice. But C'mon its a La Quinta dont expect luxury.

This will be a good budget stop if you are in the Lauderdale burbs.
odd thing though is that the hall smells like smoke but its a non-smoking floor we were on so i dunno.
