Pensacola's La Quinta would be my first stay at this chain. This facility is a three story motel, with elevator. Afterr driving seven hours, my legs needed some stretching, so didn't mind using the staircasse.
The staff was very friendly, making check-in quick and smooth., Every time I w3as at the front desk, I was greeted with a smile. This staff did something I have never encountered at any other motel. The front desk called my room to check if the accommodations were in order or if I needed any special services. I needed nothing, but appreciated the thought.
The room was average size, with two queen beds, table with two chairs, large chest of drawrs, and small end table between the beds. An excellent sounding flat screen tv with 37 channels (including the NFL channel) sat on the chest. No micowave or refrigerator. A mico/fride maybe available with a more expensive room. In the breakfast area is a micowave.
Breakfast starts starts at 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. A choice of two dry cereals, donuts and muffins, with apple/orange juice and coffee. also a waffle maker. The eating area is a bit tight, so a visitor needs to start early.
A Dennys is on one side, with a convenience on the other. Other restaurants located nearby are Arby's, a Ranchero's Mexican restaurant and a Captain D's seafood. Across North Davis Highway is a Waffle House, however Davis is a fast four lane highway.
La Quinta is not for the handicapped, for the bathrooms are small. Between the toilet and door is not much space. A small/medium perrson would have no problems. However a large or handicapped person would have difficulties. The sink area has sufficient space, withn hair dryer. Plenty of towels, but meduim in size, thin and a bit scratchy., Take your own towels, as a coin operated laundry is available.
La Quinta is pet friendfly. All owners kept thier dogs quiet and I saw no messes thst needed cleaning up.
My room was very clean. I arrived on a September afternoon, with the air conditioning unit on, room very cool. In fact a bit too cool. I do believe this part of the cleaning staff's procedure. The second La Quinta I stayed at, the air conditioning was turned on after each daily cleaning.
Each floor has an ice and soda machine. This facility has no large parking lot. Parking is along the sides, with a lot behind the fscility. La Quinta is just north of interstate 10, off North Davis Highway.
A two night stay was $178.00, a bit pricey. However I had a clean room, comfortable bed in a quiet neighborhood. I probably would stay again, over looking the small bathrooms.
