“Wonderful Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2006

I know this place is no longer available, but I wanted to post a review to counter all the negative that I read. We stayed there 11 consecutive years for a week each year. We absolutely loved the place. Everything about it! The continental breakfast was just that, a continental breakfast. They did not promise a dining room and full menu. everything was always clean and it was truly a relaxing place for a vacation. We loved the rooms. There were four of us and we fit perfectly in the room. Our kids grew from ages 1 & 4 to 12 & 15. They never complained about the sofa bed. We were sickened when the hurricanes took their toll on the Clarion. I even contacted the Clarion and volunteered my services to help them restore it. We have moved on, but certainly hold fond memories of our stays at the Clarion Suites in Pensacola Beach.

“Still blaming Ivan”

Yes, Pensacola Beach is still suffering from Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis, however...the Clarion Inn has a lot of annoying maintenance problems they are not fixing. The first room had a water leak down the wall. The second room had broken towel and closet bars. The hotel is run-down. The breakfast room is small and the breakfast meager. On the other hand, the staff was chearful and friendly. Finally, the East Side occupants are treated to karoche until the wee hours. I would not stay here again.

“Wonderful setting”

My family and I have stayed here two times now and each time has been amazing. The beach is right at your fingertips and so are many other things including the boardwalk, shops, and eating destinations. I highly encourage anyone looking for a hotel to stay here.

“The village setting is great, the rooms are just okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2004

We chose the hotel because of the internet pictures and the great deal we recieved - Pay for 2 nights get the 3rd night free. We had also noticed it on a previous trip to Pensacola Beach. We loved the village setting but we did discover that the pictures on the internet are not updated pictures. The beach access was great. They have bikes, playstations & games, dvds, boardgames and books available for a small daily fee. I believe it was just $4.00 a day extra and well worth it. My kids kept a playstation the entire time we were there which was great because it rained about a day and a half of our stay. They also used it at night to watch dvds after a tiring day at the beach, it was a great way for them to relax. My husband and son took the bikes out for a ride and really enjoyed that too. Now for the down side, the rooms are small and very outdated. We did like the idea of having the bedroom separated from the living area but the kids had a sofa sleeper and they complained every night about it hurting their backs. We ended up taking the matress off the bed and letting them sleep on the floor. They barely cleaned the room at all. A sizable pile of sand had formed on our carpet and I had to request that someone come vacuum it or at least let me use a vacuum cleaner to do it myself. The maid came down and she was very unfriendly and had a bad attitude. The continential breakfast was bad. They had a very extemely small breakfast area and ran out of stuff quickly. The lady over it was like a "Breakfast Nazi." The pool was very small so we never even attempted to use it because it was always full. It was a give & take situation. If you are looking for fancy, this isn't for you. If you are looking for family friendly place then this is your place.

“Not as represented”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2004

We booked our room through Expedia for the holiday weekend from 9/3/04 - 9/06/04. We paid 561.00 for these three nights and was so disappointed when arriving. The rooms are every small, hard to control the climate, and more than just steps away from the beach. We had asked for a non smoking room and the bed clothes wreaked of smoke, However the maid did changed the blankets out with no problems. But the decor of the room is not what the website portrays. For this kind of money we expected a lot nicer surroundings. The steps to the beach was around 4-500 feet. The continental breakfast was good even though it was the same every mourning. We were charged a deposit for the phone of a 150.00 cash( which we got back upon check out) because we did not have a major credit card to charge a 25.00 deposit on. This was money that we needed to eat on as we are not rich by any means and have saved and sold things to take this vacation. We had not had one for 5 years. You also have to pay for the so called anminities whether you use them or not, such as the bikes, playstations, etc. How many times have these things been paid for at the rate of charging every guest for them? The staff was very friendly though and helpful. My husbands parents went with us and although they said that the room would accomidate 4 guest we were on top of each other at times in the couch area of the room. I loved the cottage look and the out door surroundings of the property was very beautiful, but the indoor decor leaves something to be desired. The rooms were clean and so was the pool area. However for the money value this is not what someone would expect as far as value.
