“Nice golf facility, hotel facilities and service could be better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Hotel&Resort facility
we usually stay at this hotel the first night/s when we arrive in Miami. there's not alot to complain about. rooms are ok, though some renovation would get them a better rating.
They smell a little old (non smoking room) and carpets were a little dirty to. Some painting would also help to give them a better look.
Overall, the hotel facility is well maintained and the restaurant was recently renewed in 2011. Too bad they didn't hire a new waitress. The breakfast waitress seems to belong to the inventory. She was not willing to serve all her guests in the same manner.
Pool was actually closed during our stays in January and I couldn't find any Spa facilities, but I need to admit that I wasn't really looking for them.

Golf facilities
There's a nice pro shop where you can buy almost everything you might need for a round of golf. I got their rental clubs which where great (Taylor Made Burner) and not even to expensive (guess I payed about 25$) compared with rental clubs I got in the Naples area.
The 3 golf courses (each 9 holes) are all very well maintained and not too difficult to play, though they have some challanging holes! With the "oncart" GPS scoring system, you are always aware about distance to pin or next cart.

Overall, this is a nice, affordable Golf Resort pretty close to Miami Airport (about 30 minute drive) which I recommend to people who don't want to spend a fortune for their stay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on your stay at Grand Palms Resort. We strive for 5 star guest satisfaction. Our hotel is a little dated and we are currently doing a lot of renovations at this resort to make it a 5 star resort.

In the future, if you need to get hold of our on-site European Spa & Salon please call 954-450-5535

We look forward to having you stay with us again!

This is my 3rd visit and i love this place.Great value for ur money, all rooms come with breakfast, or u can order room service. Breakfast was excellent, i've never seen so much food on 1 plate ... staff is very courteous and always smiling, from the front desk to the house keeping.Sunny is an exceptional lady, kind and very courteous, she alone will make me go back...loved the suite we were in.. clean , large bathroom, nice sofas, very comfortable. The 1 thing i didnt like is that we had no 1 to help us with our bags when we were checking in and we had to walk quite a distance to get to our room, but once we were there all was well. Thanks again 4 a great wknd, and i 4got to mention ,this place is close to all the great locations in Pembroke pines.See u soon!!!

Room Tip: suites r the best.

“will no longer stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

My extended family has stayed at this hotel for over 20 years while visiting our parents in Pembroke Pines. My last (and final) stay the room furniture looked like something out of a dumpster, and a huge cockroach (we call them waterbugs in NY) marched across the wall. What annoyed me the most was the lack of response to a letter I wrote to the hotel manager. A manager that cared would have, at least, written a letter back apologizing for the state of the room. It is inexpensive, but over the years it has become gross. After probably more than 40 stays at this hotel, I now stay at the Hampton Inn.

Room Tip: If there is a good room, the hotel never gave it to me.

Thank you very much for staying with us at Grand Palms. I want to apologize for your experience. This is the first time I heard about this situation and assure you it won’t happen again. (I never received a letter). After reviewing your review we took immediate action. We inform our pest control company of the situation and they are of it now. Our hotel is going through a facelift makeover and we are constantly improving the resorts conditions. I would like to offer you either a free nights stay next time you are here or a free round of golf. I am very confident your experience will be better next time around.

“Want insects in your room and poor customer service? stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed for a night in Dec'11 and when we returned back to our room it was infested with insects. They were all over - in our bedroom, and the bathroom didn't have a surface without insects on. Tried to complain and move room but no sign of any staff, so we had a restless night and woke up covered in bites. Complained at reception the next day and got a 'so what' attitude. Have complained to manager upon our return and have basically been offered a free nights stay and he refuses to refund any payment as we stayed the night (late at night with young kids - we had little option)! Why would a free nights stay be acceptable when we live in the UK and I would rather eat my own foot than return to this hell hole?

His attitude was also to explain what the insects were and basically say there is little they can do. I'd suggest trying to keep the rooms clean as a starter. Oh apparantly there were also staff available according to the managers 'security tape' - so I'm clearly a liar as well! Good to see that the attitude to customer service is being led from the top.

My recommendation - STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Here's a copy of email sent directly to client:

First I would like to apologize to you for not having a great stay at Grand Palms; we strive for 100% customer satisfaction but unfortunately even in the finest hotel problems do arise.

I would like to address your concerns:

Sugar Ants are an occasional problem in South Florida, however they are harmless. They appear now and then seeking out sweets or starches. Grand Palms is on a weekly contract with Orkin pest control so that to avoid problems; unfortunately Orkin cannot guarantee us that they can eliminate them which you experienced but this will hold true in homes and hotels throughout South Florida.

Rest assured I will address your customer service concerns with our staff promptly and severely (termination if necessary) so this will not happen again.

Please accept the attached Free Night Certificate for your next visit to Florida; our policy does not allow me to refund room charges when the room is used for the night. If a guest has an issue we address that promptly and if necessary move the guest to a different room.
