“Not really family friendly”

Overall, we had a good time here, but this place was very overpriced given the quality of both the condo and the beach. Most of the interior was lower quality, not well maintained or cleaned. I think this place is more appropriate for college aged individuals who are here to party and don't care about these things.

Pros: spacious, nice view of beach, good AC, hot showers, convenient to have washer/dryer

Cons: carpet was filthy (so bad that we didn't want our kids crawling on the ground), beach littered with cigarette butts and trash (nothing like looking over and seeing your 14 month old putting a butt in his mouth), 2 of the 4 dvds in our unit did not work, the icemaker did not work, low quality linens (which didn't seem to have been washed), kitchen needs new cookware (unless you like eating teflon with your dinner), dishwasher didn't work well, internet was unreliable, 2 of the patio chairs were broken, the trash chute was right next to our door which made for wretching every time time we walked in/out out of the unit, parking is also not abundant

We contacted both the owner and the management company (Southern Resorts) about our issues. They did replace the shower curtain in one bathroom, bring us a spare dvd player, and refund us the cleaning fees. They scheduled to have someone clean the carpets, but didn't notify us about it so we had to send the cleaners away when the showed up unannounced on our doorstep at 5 pm one evening (right when we were cooking dinner). The owner offered to replace the refrigerator, but we felt that would be a huge interruption to our vacation. We have requested to be compensated (refunded) for all of these inconveniences, but with no response. We will definitely not stay here again. We stayed in 101E.

Based on our driving around, I would suggest Sterling Resorts for people who prefer quality and family friendly amenities. There buildings seem to be cleaner and in nicer parts of town (at least from the outside). Or, we might try to stay in one of the little towns along 30A like Seaside or Rosemary Park, though I am not sure the cost to stay there; those places are very quaint, clean, and full of families.

I planned a family girls trip..i had 3 kids, a 7month old & my mother & I..i made my reservation on the 5th of May & was quoted $947.64 SHORT of what i actually had to pay when i arrived. I'm from GA so had to travel 7hrs to get there & when was hit with that right when i got there. We got a beautiful condo, it looked fantastic until we actually got in there. We stayed in grandview east in 1401, the first night we had to stay in that beautiful condo i paid $3,000 for with absolutely NO AIR, mind you kids, mother & baby. I called the after hours number who sent someone but before that I talked to the securityguard who was on the phone with the GM who told him to call another man because he would have it fixed asap but the frontdesk told me not to talk to the securityguard about it nomore??? so NO AIR..they said they would have it fixed by 8;30 the next morning it was more like 11am!!! it was hot!! That's just 2 things so far..the sink in the kitchen had NO water pressure at all because everytime you turned it on,it would leak puddles over the counter into the floor which my niece FELL in..the maintnance man that came for the air said that he knew it was like that..it had been like that for a while, noone has given him the part to fix it!!!!??? we put a call into the manager because i was livivd but got a supervisor who NEVER gave our cell number tho the manager or either the manager just didn't care? I could not believe what we had togo throughfor so much money!!! housekeeping absolutely sucked!!! when we arrived, the chair had old pizza crust under it & some of the blankets in the closet looked like someone had thrown up pn then & noone washed it!!!! I could NOT get no help & our one vacation we take a yr SUCKED all because they cant run a condo right...dont stay here..NEVER..would like to really know who owns condo 1401 in the east building...i think you need to know what is really goig on in the condo...they should have NEVER rented me a broke room that they knew was broke for $3,000!!!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN.....the list could actually continue, longer & longer...Alot of people were complaining about the place this year..it really needs help because it COULD be a beautiful place & some of the workers really need to be replaced or their unprofessional attitudes...thankyou,
Tami Goodman

“Beautiful condo but not as described; Parking is a major issue”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2011

I stayed here for the Memorial Day holiday weekend with my husband, my parents, and my sister and her husband. We rented what was advertised as a 3-bedroom, 3-bath unit from BestBeachGetaways.com on the 6th floor of Grandview East. I should begin by saying that the unit was lovely--it was a corner unit that was beautifully and tastefully decorated, had spacious living areas, and incredible panoramic views of the ocean with windows that covered two adjoining walls in the living room. The views were breath-taking. The master bedroom had balcony access and an amazing view. It also had a large bathroom with a jetted tub. The master and the living areas were the highlight of the unit. The rest left a lot to be desired.

When we booked the condo, we confirmed that it was in fact a 3-bathroom unit. Our invoice also indicated that the unit was 3-BR/3-BA. However, when we arrived, we discovered that it had only 2 bathrooms. This was a major issue, because we were travelling as 3 married couples. It is challenging for 4 adults to share a bathroom at the beach. Not only was this an inconvenience, but we paid the rental rate for a 3-BR/3-BA.

In addition the bathroom issue, we also experienced several other inconvenient issues.

*We were shorted a parking permit, which was a problem because they were towing vehicles daily since it was a holiday weekend and parking was a MAJOR problem (more on that later).
*The second bedroom, while spacious, had no comforter/duvet on the bed; simply a sheet and blanket and two VERY tiny pillows.
*The second bedroom also had no working remote control for the TV/DVD player.
*The second bathroom (shared by 2 couples) did not have a single rug on the tile floor. There was only a small towel bath mat. This does not create a safe situation with a wet and sandy bathroom floor!

Finally, the biggest problem aside from the bathroom situation, was the parking (or lack thereof)! Grandview East is 17 stories tall, but only has a tiny lot underneath the building. Because of this issue, an overflow lot is located directly across the street. The problem with this was that many times the overflow lot itself was actually full! We were forced to park a few times in a sandy, grassy area beyond the overflow lot, which was not particularly safe. Also, since the overflow lot was across the street, it created a very unsafe situation, especially for families with children. Front Beach Road is an extremely busy road in PC Beach, and traffic was heavier than usual with it being a holiday weekend. With so many drunk drivers on the road, it made us nervous to cross the street, and we had to literally had to RUN for our lives to make it across. Not cool. Also, extra parking permits are a whopping $17 each!

We contacted the realty the morning after our arrival and let them know about the bathroom issue, parking permit issue, and other minor problems with the unit. We did not want to be held responsible for the missing linens. They were very friendly and brought a parking permit and TV remote to our unit promptly. However, they did not offer any type of credit or compensation for the fact that they had falsely advertised the unit as a 3-bathroom unit. We felt that since we paid the rate for a 3-bathroom, we should have at least been credited SOMETHING, even if it was just $50. After all, it was inconvenient. For this reason, we will probably NOT rent through bestbeachgetaways.com again.

Onto the property itself. The condo was clean and so was the pool area. The pool area was somewhat shaded, so it would be a nice place to cool off and get out of the direct sun, but we spent most of our time at the beach. The pool area was furnished with lots of comfy chaise lounges and chairs. The beach area was very clean and easily accessible with just a short walk down the ramp. In addition to the beach chairs available for daily rental, there are 2 tiki huts with chairs provided by the condo, for guests to use on the beach for free. Only problem was, we never got to use them. During our stay, there was a couple of homeless men who "hung out" under the tiki huts and would frequently speak to us and other guests as we laid out on the beach. This made us quite uncomfortable. The cabana boy told us they had been there for 2 weeks and no one had asked them to leave. This is something that needs major attention from the condo management. This hotel is in a safe area and is clean and well-maintained, but this made us all quite uncomfortable. Especially when there are women and children alone on the beach at times. You can never be too careful these days.

Overall, this was a beautiful unit. It was the realty's fault that the unit was not as described. For a family, this would be perfect. Just not for 3 married couples. We would stay at Grandview East again if it weren't for the major parking problems and the lack of a third bathroom. I am ranking it AVERAGE, only because the parking is REALLY inconvenient, and really brings down the property.

My Wife and me toured the Penthouse suite 1002 in Grandview West. This suite exceeded our expections. Not only is it beautiful, it is very spacious. It can easily accomcomdate 2 or 3 families. Or if you just want indulge yourself. It is much more beautiful than the pictures show. Owner was very helpful and I would like thank them for letting us look at this suite. I have rented from this owner in the past and they were very helpful.

“Very nice except for the parking”

LOVED the condo we stayed in (top floor on the far right corner facing the beach)!! The rooms were beautifully decorated, we had an amazing view, and we didn't travel more than 5 miles the entire time we were there because it was so convenient to all the tourist trap restaurants. Didn't spend any time at the pool, just the beach. The only problem we encountered was in trying to get additional parking passes from the desk. We were told to call security the morning after we arrived to obtain them but the number they had posted never worked (it went straight to voice-mail and our calls were never returned). They had also said we wouldn't have to worry about it that morning because they wouldn't be checking for it, but the cars had towing warnings on them when we went down early in the AM. We ended up parking our additional cars in another lot and shuttling people which was highly inconvenient, but what can you do? Otherwise, a great trip and a WONDERFUL place to stay! Just make sure if you are bringing multiple cars to iron out the details at check-in, not later with their "24-hour security".
