“We had a great stay at this resort.”

We were a little reluctant to visit this Panama City Holiday Inn Club Resort after reading some of the reviews, but we’re glad we didn’t listen to them. This is a really beautiful place. We purchased our club plan in Myrtle Beach, and granted, this resort is not as new, nor as modern as theirs, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this facility. We had a 2 bedroom villa with a full kitchen. We were told that all 2 bedroom villas have kitchens, but some of the 1 bedrooms do not. Just ask when making reservations. Our beds were very comfortable. Our rooms were clean. We visited in January, so some of the amenities were not available to us. The outdoor pools, the outdoor bar and grill, the resort’s beach and the marina were closed for the season, but we expected that. We had access to all Wyndham facilities, which gave us anything we might want. The indoor pool and hot tub were very nice. We ate at the restaurant in the Wyndham, and it was excellent. I’m a runner, so I ran the cart path for all 18 holes of the Jack Nicklaus golf course, and it’s beautiful. If you’re a golfer, you’d have to love it. I also ran by the marina. In the summertime it offers opportunities to take fishing and sightseeing tours. I understand they also have jet ski rentals. The resort’s beach area is on an inland waterway and is very small, but it was also very tranquil. I would think it would be a great getaway from the crowded Gulf beaches during the summer. However, the beaches on the Gulf Coast are breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL. The Gulf water is a gorgeous blue/green, and the sand is absolutely WHITE, quite different from the Atlantic coast, and these beaches are within easy driving distance from this resort. There is a full service spa in the Holiday Inn Club facility, which allows you to really pamper yourself if you’d like. We saw quite a few people having fun playing tennis on the courts. Panama City Beach offers lots of summertime entertainment like Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, etc. What more could anyone ask for? We recommend this facility. And, BTW…all the locals recommend eating at Hunts Oyster Bar.

Room Tip: 2 bedroom villas have full kitchens.

Hi there. It is so great to hear from one of our current club members. We are so happy that your vacation was everything that you wanted it to be and more. Visiting our resorts during a slower season is great way to experience more that the resort and surrounding areas have to offer. Isn’t getting the scoop on local dinning from the people who know all about it the best? It is great that you were able to keep up with your active lifestyle all over the property, and with all of that running hopefully you were able to pamper yourself the way to deserved at the Spa. You asked “What more could anyone ask for?” The answer is simple: For us to see you right back here again soon. Thank you for your review.

“Good rooms location is a drive from the beaches”

Our arrival was smooth, check in smooth and finding room smooth. Room was a 1 bedroom suite and was just the size we were looking for. My husband napes in the afternoons and I like to read. We had a deck overlooking the golf course and it had a table and two chairs.
The room it self needed some updates and repairs. We got by but they should take the off season to handle these repairs for the summer is just a couple months away. Over all I will give them a B+

Room Tip: it is just one building but asking for the top floors is good because the noise of kids can travel...

“Ghost Town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2010

Took this place on a Maxtime offer. I guess the price wasn't the only thing discounted. Maybe if I hadn't lost my directions to the front office that I received in the mail I would have found it easier. I ended up pulling into two different entrances to other resort complexes. They all said Bay Point, so I guess that's what happens when you assume something. Third try was a charm though. We arrived a little early, Housekeeping hadn't quite finished the room so we drove around town. Everything is pretty much closed until March, so don't expect a fun Fall/Winter getaway. The guy at the front desk called us when it was ready but informed us of a maintenance issue, however, they were on lunch and would need to work on it while we were staying.Which we were fine with. Well, we checked in and when we walked into our room the oven was still in self clean mode. Which made it feel like it was 200 degrees for about 2 hours. The housekeeping lady showed up and finished cleaning while we unloaded. That wasn't that big of a deal. I walked out to the balcony and noticed what the maintenance issue was. The sliding door for the master br was falling apart due to a combination of old age and water damage. We've been here for 4 days and it's still not fixed so I'm guessing the maintenance man went to lunch in Miami.
With our family we were filling up trash bags rather quickly, I figured it would be like any other resort and I would have to set the trash outside for housekeeping to pick up. Well, we headed out to the beach the next day around 3pm and the trash bag was torn open by animals and spread out everywhere. I went ahead and cleaned that up since everyone in this complex is too busy and I somehow felt responsible.

*Be careful when using the glass bowls in the kitchen, my wife cut her hand on one. Luckily no stitches were needed.
*Power went out while we were there. Around dinner time so everything was pitch black. Had to reset all of the clocks. Probably due to old wiring in this place. Everything around us is brand new except this old complex. So in comparison to surrounding resorts, this place is below the median.
*I don't understand how this place could be so empty and we get stuck with a balcony view of a gravel lot with a school bus.
*The bathroom walls are gross. Looks like there was a horrible crime scene and it was just painted over. Hand prints and what looks like spatter is everywhere under the paint.
*It would be nice if the movie channels worked.

While everything makes this place sound terrible I want to make it clear that I understand it's slow season so they probably cut back on the staff and probably have one guy taking care of all of the maintenance between 3 resorts around us. Also the guy at the front desk was very hospitable and nice. I forgot his name but he's doing a bang up job. To be honest, people don't come to Panama City for the resorts. Since it was slow season we mainly dealt with locals. Traffic was cake, Beaches were wide open. I thought it was funny to see Floridians wearing jackets in 70 degree weather.

Hello there from Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Bay Point Resort. We are so glad that you were able to visit us on a relaxing family getaway. What better way to take advantage of the offseason deals than the way you did with your Maxtime offer? We are sorry that your stay did not meet your every expectation. No matter what the occupancy levels or seasons are, we strive to make every guest feel like they are staying at their “home away from home” when they are with us. We are thrilled that our front desk staff made your check-in as carefree as possible, and that our housekeeping staff was working hard to make sure that everything about your villa was perfect. We want our guests to feel like they are on vacation from the moment they step foot on property. Traveling during the offseason is a great way to see more of your surroundings without the crowds. Being set back a bit from the hustle and bustle also gives you a chance to have the best of both worlds. A chance to relax and have fun all in the same place. It seems that some of your “neighbors” wanted to take part in the vacation fun by playing with the trash, and we appreciate you helping them clean up after themselves. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know how we are doing, and hope to see you again soon., even if we are all bundled up for our “winter”.

“Small, dirty, and out of date room. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!”

Upon entering my hotel room, I went into shock. There were bugs (dead and alive) on the ceiling and in the bathroom. The floors hadn't been swept and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed. This is NO resort. You get to use the amenities from the Mariott Resort, but there are none associated with the Holiday Inn. If you must stay at this off the beaten path so called resort, stay at the Mariott and not the Holiday Inn Club Vacation units. Housekeeping is available at an additional cost and you must take out your own trash. The property management sent housekeeping out to clean my room and they only brought fresh towels. Why send housekeeping if they don't clean? Please stay away from this place!!!
