“Nice stay”

We read alot of bad reviews we stayed in room 310. It was nice and clean and comfortable and a great price for an ocean front room. It is an older hotel so the elevator was a little slow and smelled. But the intrernet is great and the staff was very friendly the outdoor pool was cold so we used the indoor pool was a good option. It had a full size refrigator and a nice stove. we had a great time and would stay there again.

“$45.50 / Night - Oceanfront - 4th Floor - NO WORRIES!”

My wife and I just spent 6 nights at the Coral Beach Hotel. Needless to say, we were worried after reading some the horrible comments on here after we had already made reservations. Upon arrival, we checked in with no problems and the gentleman at the counter was professional, but not super - cheesy friendly like at most hotels, which was fine with me. The lobby is clean and nicely decorated. It also has a computer for guests with high speed internet. We took the elevator up to the 4th floor. Either one of the elevators are not falling apart or about to drop you 4 stories to your death like some comments lead you to believe. They're your basic elevators - plain and simple. On our way to the room, i noticed a few tears in the hallway carpet, but it wasnt nasty looking.

We got to our room and crossed our fingers before entering. Upon opening the door we noticed a clean "hotel" room smell. It wasn't musty or moldy like we had read on here. The carpet was NOT nasty and looked freshly vacuumed / fairly new. The bathroom was older looking but clean and well stocked with towels and soap. The fridge and microwave was not super clean, but didnt have any furry creatures living in them. The bed sheets were clean, no stains, and smelled fresh. We also checked for bed bugs, but NONE were to be found. There was NO ROACHES, NO FLIES, NOR ANY KIND OF BUGS in our room. The table and 2 chairs in front of the balcony window were a nice touch, and was clean. The balcony overlooking the ocean was great. The 2 chairs had a small amount of mildew around the edges, along with the outside surface of the door, but thats expected, i mean, you ARE at the beach where moisture is constant. The TV had about 20 channels, no HBO, or pay per view type channels. Even though the room felt and looked clean, we took antibacterial wipes and wiped down the remote, tables, and door handles just to be safe.

After inspecting our room, we went back downstairs to the pool area. The indoor pool looked clean, but had a STRONG smell of chlorine. The comments about the gameroom are correct. There's 1 arcade game (1996 Mortal Combat) and i wasnt sure if it even worked. Some of the buttons were stuck in the down position. It had an ice machine, a drink machine, and a couple snack machines. The outdoor pool area was decent, nice landscaping, plenty of chairs, but the foot wash area had alot of sand most of the time and the knobs / pipes could use replacing. The pool didnt look super clean when we arrived, but was cleaned a day or two after. We never swam in either pool, due to lack of time. It has direct beach access (stairs) from the pool patio.

The only person i seen around the hotel that i didnt really trust was the maintenance man. He's kind of a "shady" person, looking at you out of the corner of his eye. He keeps his head shaved slick and has tattoos. I only seen him once or twice, but never spoke to him.

Overall, if you're looking for an affordable hotel directly on the beach, this is the one. Granted, its not a Hilton or a 5 star hotel, but the room we stayed in was clean, the maid kept it well stocked the entire stay, and the beach view is incredible.

“A real rathole motel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

I was presented with this dump as a lure for a timeshare/vacation club promotion. No way to schmooz potential buyers! The room was gross. There was trash on the balcony and we were startled several times by solicitors pushing flyers through the door. Good way to get shot or beat up. The bathroom was cramped, the remote was missing, and there was no cable. I was very nervous about sleeping in the bed due to the horror stories I keep hearing about bedbugs but we seem to have escaped unscathed. This place is in a shady part of town with nothing to do. I have no reason to visit this part of town ever again. I will go the area I was going to visit originally further south.

“I'd PASS and NOT stay here!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

I just left the Coral Beach MOTEL located at 711 S Atlantic Ave, Ormond Beach, FL 32176 and could not wait to write this review!

Let me start off by saying that I rarely write reviews on hotels. Mainly because most places I stay are pretty average. They don't make me want to leave but they also aren't "wow" factor. I've written one other review for a place that was "wow" factor. The Coral Beach Resort in Ormond Beach, Fl made me want to leave. I am not picky when it comes to hotels, I am not high class and I don't expect, nor stay in, 5 star, but there were just to many things wrong with this place that I felt the need to let others know about.

Upon check in, the girl didn't have much personality. Another guest was trying to explain to her that there was no hairdryer in her room, but the girl didn't seem interested. But other people we spoke with were nice, and we had to call the office several times. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a King Oceanfront Efficiency with a full kitchen. When we got to our room there was a ROACH in the cabinets. I bought bug spray at the grocery store that night and sprayed the whole room, and we didn't see anymore until the day before we left I saw a baby roach crawling on the cabinets. There was garbage under the bed. There was a bottle of water in the fridge that was used, someone elses garbage. The bed sheets were stained and sticky. We had to move the bed and plug in the lights ourselves as they weren't plugged and then we didn't have an outlet for the clock, so we had to move the clock to the kitchen. The kitchen light had a shortage, fire hazard, and we were told maintenance would come fix it and never did. The plug to the bathtub didn't plug the water, so I had to bathe my kids with the water just continuously running. The shower water pressure was horrible and at some points we couldn't even get the shower to work correctly and water flowed out the shower and bath faucet. The water was yellow in color and the hot and cold water was backwards everywhere.

The cable was VERY limited. Less than 30 channels. No kids channels, so if you have kids that like to have a break during the day and rest and watch cartoons, that won't be happening here. We stayed Saturday night thru Thursday morning and never once could find a cartoon. My daughter peed on the bed one night and they didn't even change the sheets. We had to go get new sheets from the office and do it ourselves. The pool was dirty the first couple days, but our last day, Wednesday, I did see someone cleaning it. We used both pools. They don't allow you to have your balcony door open, which sucks because I'm one who likes to hear the ocean if I am relaxing in the room. They don not have sliding doors to the balcony, just regular doors.

It's pretty noisy also. Pool doesn't close until 11 and you could hear everything very well, even from our 3rd floor room.

I didn't leave any valuables in the room ever. Loaded phones, camera, laptops, everything into my beach bag because I didn't feel safe otherwise.

We called the office many times. Once to complain about the roach, broken lights, and that we had to move the bed to plug lights in and there wasn't enough outlets. They claimed there should have been an outlet adapter with more outlets but it must have been stolen and we never got a new one. We had to call to complain that they didn't change our sheets the day our baby peed on them. We had to call to complain that someone was smoking pot on their balcony and we couldn't even go out on ours it was soo bad, and we had to call and complain about a party or something on the pool deck at like 10:45 at night. I paid $76 a night for this place and it was soooo NOT worth it. Stay somewhere else, unless you can just get an excellent deal, it definitely wasn't worth my money.

The good things were it was on the beach, had indoor and outdoor pools, and had a full kitchen. All which were requirements for my vacation.
