I have stayed at the Hyatt Place several times over the years. I have always enjoyed the spacious rooms, the free breakfast and the stylish interior design. But it seems that Hyatt has upped their game in some subtle ways.
When i check in, the lady behind the desk, took time to come around from behind the desk and personally show me where things were instead of just pointing and grunting like some do at other hotels. I had seen another lady do the same thing for the customer before me so I knew they did that for all and not just me.
I also travel on business and appreciate how business friendly the rooms are. Big spacious rooms; free wi-fi internet, a mini-fridge; a room safe; a very big high def TV; and the Wall Street Journal is stuck under door each morning. The only thing I didn't care for too much was the HVAC. It seemed that the thermostat was slow to act; causing the room to be quite warm before the air would finally kick on. This led my room to get a little stuffy sometimes at night and kept my sleep from being the best.
They've also upped their game on the food offerings. The free breakfast is more than just a bowl of fruit and dry toast. They have waffles, french toast, fancy breakfast sandwiches with potato bread, apple smoked bacon and gouda cheese. (They had me at "gouda"). And you can purchase other offering 24 hours a day. The staff running the dining area are very conscientious, making sure that the area is clean and that you have everything you need.
Best of all is the affordable price. For the money it's had to beat. I've even secretly wondered how they keep the doors open when you consider the bang for the buck. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I think that only the luxury hotels are worthy of 5 stars. But I would give the Hyatt Place the most enthusiastic 4 stars that I can.
