As I had been to Florida before I knew that very little time was spent in your hotel and it was really just a place to crash but I at least wanted some kitchen space and with the extras such as 2 hours of free drinks, complimentary breakfast and its location & price - hawthorne sealed the deal! I knew it was a bargain so had my doubts and seen some bad reviews on here however they were the usual 'dirt in corner' - 'cracked tile' 'peeling carpet' - seriously?! WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE? You have far too much time on your hands and need to spend less time looking at the cracked corners of your hotel room and go out and have a life!
Anyway, location is absolutely PERFECT! Literally a 30 second walk onto international drive right next to the big mcdonalds. Obviously I-ride stops all the way up, we even chose to walk to universal studios a couple of times. Don't be fooled by the map - internation drive is massive. 17 miles long im sure our tour man said! But Universal was around a 30minute walk and with the roasting sunshine and the millions of things to look at on international drive, its a pleasant one. Although on our walk home we would always end up in and out of all the attractions and stores and would end up taking us hours! All good though.
The hotel itself has a medium sized pool which we only managed to squeeze a few evenings in as we were so busy but it was brilliant and we even had a game of basketball in the court. (there is also a bbq available for guests to use)
When we arrived at our room , there was just a smiley man awaiting to give us our key at around 12am as our flight had been delayed by about 9 hours. We dragged ourselves to our rooms where I was delighted with what I seen! A kitchen equipped with fridge, freeze, hobs & all plates, pots, pans & cutlery required. This was joined to our cosy little living room with tv & radio. Our bedroom was a seperate room (which I never expected) and had two massive queen size beds, an adjoining en suite and a telly in there too. It was just what we were after. So pleased we booked it and we are thinking about booking again this year as I don't want to take a chance anywhere else as we would love something similar again. Location was definitely a winner.
Breakfast in the morning wasn't the mental buffets of american food you might expect but there was toast, eggs, croissants, juice, fruit, omelettes, bacon.. all the usual breakfast foods. We would usually jump down for an omelette or two in the morning before boarding out transfer busses or setting out. We did however go to Ponderosa Steakhouse which is literally round the corner some morning as they do a $3.99 all you can eat breakfast with everything you could possibly want to eat for breakfast.. (they even had chicken nuggets... and ice cream... and waffles!) so good!!! as to us that is like.. £2-3 ? ridiculous!
If you are after a luxury suite pampering 5* hotel then obviously this is not for you but if you are after a comfy bed after a wild day in orlando with a spot of tv, some evening drinks and a splish splash of the pool now and then with lovely staff then hawthorne is the place for you.

Room Tip: I don't have any tips other than our room was a pool view on the 3rd floor and was lovely !
